So my anxiety has increased a lot since in recovery from anorexia. Most likely because Now I'm having to deal with emotions. Anyways I had been having numbness and pins and needles. Had bloodwork done but now they think it's because when I get anxious I hold my breathe. I didn't notice it until my fiancé pointed it out to me. Instead of breathing rapidly I just tend to hold my breathe. Am I just weird in this way when I'm anxious? Or is this a common thing?

I forget how to breathe sometimes where it feels as though I can't get enough air and will not remember how to breathe in again. If you notice yourself holding your breath, it is important to stop and focus on your breathing, even for just two minutes can help. A breathing exercise that works for me is where you breathe in for 5 seconds, hold for 6, slowly exhale for 7 seconds. This tends to also help other symptoms of anxiety including rapid heart rate, pins and needles, etc.
