Tomorrow I am going to a job interview at a horse barn, my DREAM JOB HERE!! So why am I feeling anxiety towards it?

I think part of it , well likely most of it is anticipatory, Finding the place, hopeing there is only one barn, and finding the person i'm suppose to meet. Help around there, muck out some stalls, turn out some horses, be shown around the premisis, and then have a little talk with the owner!

I have a stress headache and it sucks...This is a postive thing, so why am I bothered by it? Feeling Anixety About Tomorrow Morning

Sundance, just keep telling yourself it's excitement! It is, you know! Feeling Anixety About Tomorrow Morning

Looking back, I remember talking myself into thinking I was "scared" when in reality, it was just excitement and anticipation.

<font color=purple>I do that way to often, I always screw up the two.. But they feel identical so more then often i do think it's anxiety when chances are it's something completely different.

I did make it this morning.. Got to the barn after 7:30...Met Cystal, showed me where stuff was, helped muck out a couple stalls, ect.. Didn't have much of an interview, The thing is that this place is a show barn and they travel alot, and someone always goes on the road, and then someone stays at the barn.... I don't know for 1 if I Can physically do it, it's alot of lifting and labor, and I have no muscle.... and second mentally I don't know if I can do it..... it's depressing, and it's a dream job.

I also am more nervous or intimidated by the horses, I haven't been around them in years Feeling Anixety About Tomorrow Morning

I think I botched the interview though Feeling Anixety About Tomorrow Morning

hmmm doesn't sound like the "dream job" to me --- and from your post --to you either! But I, too, see it as progress to go on the interview! You know, you might just do that for jobs you know you won't take... just to get used to the process... and you'd relax more, going into it knowing you don't gotta have it LOL. proud of ya!

No it is a dream job to be working around horses again, horses use to be my therapy, just being around them I love, the job is alot of physical labor, and not sure if I can do it, but I want to give it a try if it's offered to me, I'm going to be writing up a follow up letter, maybe that will help push the process along. I just hesitiate sometimes, I think it's just nerves when it comes to interviews, and that's something I will get over, just not good at that social bit...

I have gone to interviews and end up not taking the job because I realize I know I'll be miserable doing it. I think it's just something to get use to again if I do get the job at the barn, I haven't been around horses in years, and plus I don't know exactly all the stuff that needs to get done, don't know the horses , but in time I will if I do get it, so we shall see what happens, either way I'll be ok with it.

Horses are definatly a good thing... I still haven't heard back, debating whether or not to give it some time, because it is the holidays?

I don't know...

I hope things work out ok for you. I'm going job hunting tomorrow, and it's somewhat scary. I have enjoyed being off of work, but financially can't handle being off any more. That's more scary than job hunting. The unknown is always a challenge, but it always works out ok. You will be ok, and will have other opportunities if this doesn't work. Good luck!

<font color=blue>Hi TexDave,

For me it's anticipatory anxiety, that is the kicker and that is the thing that makes me miss my chance at a job, and I haite it. I guess everyone does, but I try to think differently and tell myself that it's excitement. I've burned so many bridges and I don't want to burn anymore.

I emailed a health club, (i know that's not proper but right now that's the only way to converse with them cause the club isn't built yet) asking them if they looked over my resume and when they are hiring, I'm hoping that I will hear something back.

Part of me wants to get it, part of me is scared to get it, I just want to be excited, but I never am... Feeling Anixety About Tomorrow Morning

I think a health club would be a neat place to work. I got word today that I'll be starting a new job Wed., another mechanical contractor at DFW Airport. I also burned many bridges in my youth, even to the age of 34 when I got sober. I applaud your efforts to find something that you will enjoy. It took me a long time to learn to plan on getting a job before I quit the one I had. Still, I make mistakes, but I have also learned that I can go back and talk to former employers and keep the damage to a minimum. Most of them are pretty understanding. And even after doing this for 27 years, I still get anxious before I start a new job! This past week I've been struggling with what I could have done differently on my last job. It seems to be an exercise in futility, but it's part of the process of acceptance for me. Have a great day, Dave.

I have burned TONS of bridges, i'm trying not to do that anymore.

I've worked at a health club before, got free membership because of it, the only thing was that I quit because I Was getting sexually assaulted and harrassed by 3 guys that work there, so i'm cautious about applying places, I wont go where I see a lot of guys working, the fear is that it will happen again.

I always have alot of anxiety esepically for interviews, I always think that I am going to mess up. Feeling Anixety About Tomorrow Morning

I emailed the one person cause the store isn't opened yet, my worry is that I wont make it there cause anxiety will turn to panic, I'm literally screwed when that happens, not to happy about that, anxiety I can control, panic even though it's rare is my problem.

Good luck with the job Dave.

i completely understand where you are coming from. last august i had an interview and a clothing store for a dumb little part time job...NO BIG DEAL!!! but....of course, i was absolutely terrified. i was so afraid i would answer the questions wrong, do something wrong.....whenever i tried to answer questions, i felt like my words weren't coming out the way i wanted them to, and i was a complete mess til a little while after the whole thing was over. but, i did get the job....i think as long as you are honest, be yourself, and just try your best, i think the interviewers realize that most people are nervous, if not terrified when it comes to interviews, and they keep that in mind. good luck with everything! my thoughts are with you :-)

Hi Tmarie

I know what you mean, I always got jobs at retail stores ect... I always assume the worst that I am saying the wrong things and so forth.

I was completely honest this time around when talking to the barn owner's mother. I told her that I would have to try it out before I could commit, I don't know if she liked it or not, but I told her how it is, and I think that just blew my chances.

I have been looking for another job, and applied for a couple health club positions for new stores, I guess we'll see what happens.

I didn't get the job, which is fine, not worried about it
