I understand how you feel. The place I go to for my Pdoc just doesn't seem can keep a doc there long. I just get comfortable with one next thing I know I get letter in mail stating they are leaving. Then I have to go through the history, the trust, the wonder, yuck...Received a letter AGAIN last week stating this Pdoc is leaving after 1 year....grrrrrrrrrrrrr

Hello Dec,

All areas have a community mental health team (CMHT) that consists of consultant psychiatrist, psychologists, social workers, community psychiatric nurses, occupational therapists and support workers.

So there will be a cpn in your area but it sounds like you have been referred to an ASW. They are still a member of the team and will help you and find out what your needs are, so try not to worry.

Hope it goes well for you.

Take care.

When I recently switched for a private practice pdoc who did therapy to a therapist and a separate pdoc, I had spent some time writing a lot about my childhood, parents, marriage, divorce, and therapy. I had emailed it to the therapist, to get him up to speed quickly.

I saved it just in case I need to make a switch again - they might not except email - but at least you can hand a print out or read it to the social worker. Get kind of a jump start on things...

to start i was so very nerves about the meeting, i had copied out one of my posts that i write here, (called , "therealme my story") which i gave to her to read. this did help as i didnt have to bring up the past again, we chatted for a while and then she asked if i wanted to join a group of people in the same boat as me, to do outside activitys.......... the group is called MIND i havent got a clue want it stands for ,
she also said i may need to work on my confidence .
so in all it was a meeting that touched on the subjects of fitness and me...........
oh yeah i nearly forgot.............. she also said that the appointment i have with my pdoc in july, will be cancelled due to me being out of his area.???? ............... what have i moved again in the last week................. she did say i may get an appointment soon for a new pdoc .but for when she doesnt know,

also saw the quit smoking nurse today.......... everything going well, 2 weeks now,

(((((((( Dec ))))))))))

So glad it went well for you. Big step forward.

MIND is the National Association for Mental Health, they do a lot of work in the UK.

They have centres all over the UK run by people like you and me who have had or have mental health problems so they truly understand. They run all sorts or activites from just dropping in for a cup tea to trips and days out.

This is their website-
