i need to stop reading the news, it brings on way too much anxiety...just read about the Iran nuclear deal and all of the comments about how excited Iran and Russia are and how that is apparently a bad thing...ugh... Anxiety sucks, just can't stop thinking of all the bad outcomes of certain things...

I have too much anxiety for news and even fictional TV shows. I like to watch mysteries and suspense but when my anxiety is bad, I can't even deal with a silly TV show. You are not alone.

I can watch most shows, but when the movie 2012 came out I wouldn't watch it because of anxiety...I've still only seen a few parts of it.

Yes, stuff like that can really set me uncomfortably on edge! Do you remember the show 24? That was tough for me because I wanted to watch it but I would get so anxious!

I've never actually seen that show...I read it's description on IMDb and can see how watching it would make a person anxious.

Yes, i often have to take breaks from news, i can watch it sometimes but only when there isn't big world news stories on. If it's just community things and parades and such its completely fine.

I sometimes "practice" using the stuff on TV that makes me anxious. It is all our imagination going wild and we can learn to control that, that's 100% "Me" not whatever is being talked about/happening in the scene.

I have the bad habit of changing the channel when I get scared or, if for some reason :-) I don't control the clicker, I jump up and go to the kitchen or something, end up in the refrigerator (where I don't need to be :-) So, sometimes I try to disallow such behaviors and make myself watch. If I get to thinking about something I've seen as I'm going to sleep and the anxiety keeps me awake, I practice bringing my thoughts back to something else I "want" to think about instead.

Sometimes I enjoy shows that make me tense and stress me out. I don't watch too much tv, but it can take me out of a negative funk and view a different stressful situation, which makes my situation pale in comparison.
