Every bloody day at least a hundred times ,without any warning or reason, my brain slaps me with any bad, embarrassing memory it can find and I feel terrible and tense for a long time after that even though I know it wasn't my fault and there's nothing that can be done about it.

I have a speech disorder since I was born. I cannot talk normally or quickly enough which led and still leads to a lot of embarrassing situations every few days. That causes me to be really isolated and thus makes me even more awkward.

I want to stop involuntarily recalling useless garbage. I want to stop feeling depressed every time it happens. But I don't know what to do.

I have disturbing intrusive thoughts too, memories from my past. I think the only way to get this under control is to get help. I dread having to go into therapy again. But I know there are things I can't fix on my own.

Hey there blind archer. I have to agree that seeking help professionally might be a good step for you. While I do not have any speech impairment, I often have similar issues with bad memories constantly flooding my mind. During the day and then in the form of nightmares while I sleep. It can be really disconcerting. It did get better when I could talk to someone about it. Medications didn't really help me either, but when I was regularly seeing a psychologist, it helped me cope with and address my bad memories. One might call it being haunted, more than anything.

I found that sometimes developing a plan to address particularly bad memories (avoidable) helped me come to terms with them. Or, reshaping the memory in my mind so that the outcome didn't seem so dreadful. Sometimes confronting those memories and analyzing why they impacted me so much.

I wish I could be of more help! You've got support here. I hope you can find the solance you're looking for.
