guess i just wonder if this has happened to anyone else.
out of the blue i'm looking for something to watch on tv the other day and end up picking a horror movie. lately i have enjoyed stuff about ghosts and scary stuff because it distracts me from myself and is easier to take than anything sappy and happy. boy i guess the stuff i've seen was not in the league of the movie i watched and finished last night - Insidious. that movie scared the beegeebees out of me. i barely slept last night. i am a useless bundle of nerves today. even now i could try to rest for a while as my little one naps but i am just too wired. i am wondering why i did this to myself. i have this weird fascination with scary stuff but it's not worth it. i feel like i am going to take days to get over this. just wondering if anyone has ever had a similar experience and how did you get over it? thanks ![]()

There was one that put me into a psychosis...it was the chanting during an exorcism...

I used to let friends talk me into watching movies like that. If I had a negative reaction, it would generally just take some time to get over it. Exposing yourself to cheerful, positive things can help to take your mind off it.

j hi Smileonmyface
It is very unfortunate you watched that particular movie. Perhaps the best thing to do is when you feel movies getting too scary just stop there and then watching them. I do believe the ill effects will fade over time. Meanwhile try to distract your mind by doing, especially enjoyable things that will help. I hope and pray this improves for you. Very quickly. Take care. God bless and best wishes from your friend Francis |

Unless the movie/show makes me feel at home. I won't watch anymore. Like I use to love Criminal Minds. Then one realizes you could write for the show, and not have to make anything up....

Hello!
I feel you! I enjoy (not really?) horror movies. Well, I guess I have mixed emotions. I can handle them just fine during it, but when my anxiety goes through the roof, they come back to me. *I'm looking at you night time* Are you ever bored at night, and get to that weird part of YouTube? I find myself there often, usually browsing Top 10 - Scariest Photos Ever Taken, or something of the sort. Also, for some reason Serial Killers That Have Never Been Caught is one of night time AnxietyMaster's favorites! I usually regret it later, but the titles are just so tantalizing! Also, if you want a good laugh... Try watching some horror movies without sound. I know it sounds boring, but if you do it with a friend it can be really fun! I have a friend that I love to watch horror movies without sound with. It can be really amusing when people act scared without any creepy noises!

You know that's funny. I mute most scary movies. Like that Paranormal Activity one. Holy hell. And I did see Insidious but it wasn't too bad, cause again I muted most parts. The one that had me feeling the worst was Quarantine. NEVER EVER watch that. EVER.
The best way I think I got over it, was what someone suggested, watch happy stuff or funny stuff. Sometimes watching live tv helps, like a stand up comedian or a talk show, that way you see live people laughing and in the moment aren't scared of anything so you won't be either.

i actually did have it on mute and was reading the subtitles so my kids would not wake up. usually that does help to make it less scary.

I HAVE to ask (in part because I'm too chicken-little to Google it lest photos accompany the result..): what is Quarantine about and what made it so off-the-charts a no-no for you? |

The Insidious movies are hectic. I saw the trailer for No. 3 on facebook and decided then and there I wouldn't be watching even No. 1 and 2.
