OK This is my third panic attack today! I am getting so fed up with this - does anyone else get multiple attacks? How do you deal with more than one a day, this has been going on for weeks and I'm tired of it.

UGH! That must be tiring...
I don't get all out panic attacks (anyways not usually) - I just wanted to let you know that I read your post and that I'm sending strength vibes your way... Have you been able to get through to your pdoc? __________________ Direction Ripple Effect - Small things can make a difference |

Yes Yes and YES
After seven years of legal harassment from my ex....... Only way I could deal with it was to remove myself from the situation or avoided it... there is no short fix, just working thought what triggers them and finding new and different ways of dealing with issues and concerns. One thing that change for me was I gave up smoking, ( i use to smoke alot under stress and panic attacks), now I find my attacks are much less. I also umpire to keep up my confidence in group situations. Hope this helps |

Thanks guys. And SpringStar I did remove myself from the situations that seemed to cause the attacks and now have become agoraphobic!!! I too stopped smoking about 4 years ago. (congrats to you btw - I know it's not easy to do). At the same time I lost a lot of weight, was feeling really good about myself and life in general and then 2 years ago WHAM! my first panic attack. In the past 2 years I have gained all the weight back, just can't be bothered eating right or exersising. At least I didn't start smoking again (yeah me)!! They are still working on my triggers. The only thing that seems to be a common thread is any kind of heat. Well, I live in Ontario, Canada and we have just had 2 weeks of extreme heat, I think that's why I have been having so many lately.

(((((((((bebu))))))))))!! I can never figure out my triggers...I was watching a comedy with my 9 yr old and wham..FEAR! But I will say a prayer and wish you all the best of health.

Thanks for that chichi, the same thing happens to me - I can be doing nothing and then just out of the blue it happens. On the good news side, I managed to get my drivers licence re-newed, on my own, it wasn't easy but I left my apartment this am and stood in line for my license. I had already had 2 attacks today before I left so I figured my chances were good of not having another one (lol). Anyway, this is major for me and just wanted to share!!!

I also have several panic attacks a day.....some just seem to last from waking up to going to bed...i am using cognitive therapy and positive statements to help with these...i have been agoraphobic for a year today i am working through it and am seeing brighter days...i know it is hard but try to think positive and try to use relaxation and deep breathing! pm me anytime! thanks daisiesneverlie - it's good to know it's not just me. I did CBT on a one to one basis last summer, but I guess I pushed myself too far too fast during the "exposure" phase and the panic attacks became worse. We had to stop the therapy. I am currently trying again, this time on-line. Everytime I try to meditate or concentrate on my breathing at all it brings on an attack. Do you have any relaxation advice?? I have tried tapes, but again, the attacks happen. I have tried total silence and still attacks. I can't seem to concentrate on my breathing at all without an attack happening. Thanks

Bebu... Panic attacks are awful....I usually don't even read this forum because I feared they would come back, even if I read about others having panic attacks...
I have done great for a few years, until today. I was stranded without my car, and I freaked. I begged a friend of my son's to drive me home.. He did.. I was almost in tears..I panic if I can't go if I need to go. Even if I am afraid to drive, I still have the security blanket my car is there, should I need to go.. My only suggestion is to try not to get over excited or tired. ANd learn deep breathing. Sounds so easy to do when a panic attack hits. I forget everything I know when they hit me. I am thinking maybe crying will let it all go .. I will have to try that. I just can't cry now.. I hate panic attacks...I hate how they control me.. Sometimes when I get real mad at the panic attack, they sometimes stop. I wish I could help you more. I wish I could help even me more. Darn things controlled me for years. I thought they were history, until today........... my heart pounding a mile a min..I want to run, but don't know where to run to.. what a hoot .. huh... ooo stress isn't good for panic attacks either..but i guess you already know that....am gonna jump in cold shower and freeze the panic out of me.... |

Hi bebu.......welcome to the Community ! I have had anxiety attacks, panic attacks and was agoraphobic. I went throught exposure therapy, and luckily it worked wonderfully! I am sorry yours didnt go well last year, hopefully this time will. I am a Licensed In Vivo Therapist and take people out for Exposure Therapy. (I know where everything is in WalMart ! LOL ). I also really understand about having problems doing the breathing and relaxation. I also did. I was always wound so tight, once I relaxed, my triggers would hit. ANYTHING can be a trigger - and sometimes it is not necessary or helpful to know what they all are. .and they can change anytime. Nothing about this disorder is rational. WHen you start focusing on any part of your body, that in itself can be a trigger.......because you allow yourself to "feel" . I had trouble teaching diaphragmatic breathing, but I do it with no problem......it was focusing on it that bothered me. If you would like to chat more about any of this, please feel free to PM me.
