My anxiety levels are skyrocketing. It's a wednesday, I work at a restaurant that has free pie Wednesdays. I also work at the hospital and plan on quitting this place soon but that's neither here or there. Today is free pie wednesday and going to be hectic. Which I can handle. I don't want and can't handle the rude *** servers. One in particular who just HAS to work today who is mean and loud and giant whose knee caps I'd love to break. He scares me and he's caused me to have panic attacks and self harm at work....bc that's how my mind and emotions work of course. And needless to say I'm freaking out. I don't want to quit on the spot but if he pushes....I won't stay where I'm treated like less than a human being. I refuse.

You can quit now. Just call in.
Or go in and don't allow others to get under your skin. Pick a movie actor whom exudes confidence. Like Al Pacino. Watch something by him. Then emulate his personality. This way you're too tough to let anyone bother you. Try it.

I've worked at some restaurants and each one there has been someone who is rude and bossy.I worked at mynlast job 3 years before I finally quit. I'm glad you quit I think it's the right thing to do. You don't need to be in a work environment where you feel that way. As soon as I quit I felt so much weight lift off of me. I still have anxiety though. Find something you love to do and go do it. I hope things work out for you.

People don't get it. Even though it looks easy, restaurant and bar work is some of the most stressful work there is out there.
I think a person has to experience it to believe it. I put myself thru college working at restaurants and nightclubs. Yikes!!

Been in that business! Wow did it suck. I've lost jobs because of my anxiety and BP. Every job I worked, there was someone who I absolutely did not like or get along with. Yea the service industry sucks but how bout a office filled with all women? I was let go from my job a little over a wk ago because I kept having panic attacks. I probably could of sued if I didn't walk out with both my middle fingers up. Lol not funny but kinda? I was so upset and had a major attack and couldn't even drive home right away. I sat in my car crying and called my pdoc office asap. They are so good about handling a patient in crisis and always got me in when I'd call crying and in the process of panic. It's good that you quit this place. Working a job that is a pain just to show up each day is tortuous! In the mean time maybe you can talk to a therapist if you aren't already? Learn some coping skills to handle rotten people in the work place. I'm actually going for SSD because I've had so many issues working a daily job with BP and the anxiety that comes with it!
I don't get msgs unless the other person using tapatalk app! |

Congratulations on making your decision. Sometimes we have anxiety, panic, depression for a reason. If we're being constantly mistreated at work and feel miserable, feeling upset about it is a legitimate response. If it is legitimate and not just our fears, then we can change our environment -quit our job or find people who aren't critical or abusive, for example.
Good luck in your journey and take that confidence and find a place that will treat you right. Jason |
