Hello shattered sanity: Yes, I have struggled with agoraphobia for many years. I'm not really a winter person. But I am a night person; & I like the shorter daylight hours during the winter & the reduced amount of outdoor activity. I always struggle with increased depression during the spring. And I think it has something to do with not feeling up to the long days of sunshine & all of the increased activity. The one thing I do enjoy, during the summer, is the dark rainy days & rainy nights. I can't say that I do anything to get a winter feeling. So, unfortunately, I can't be of much help as far as ideas go. I just pretty-much put up with the experience & hope for rainy days...

i have agoraphobia to a certain extent. i'd rather be indoors most of the time, but do get out for doctors appointments and shopping. i love summer in the yard with our fire pit and wood burning. i have this awful agorophobia i think from being in too many accidents. i feel safe in my house.

Hi, thanks for the thread, I didn't have a proper understanding of the word 'agoraphobia' till today, now it's tied close to panic attacks?

Anyhow, my preference is the opposite, I prefer longer sunlight, the summer over the winter. And what I was thinking was pictures! I hate the cold but these lovely snowy pics or fireplace pictures, they are kinda comforting. Like last fall, I was trying to find something to make myself like the cold harsh winter more, it didn't work really, I also like a dog with sunglasses laying on a beach type of pictures. And maybe there are some books too, you maybe able to accustomed to the summer that you don't like in a fantasy world, imaginaly/fictional book world that is seasonal, how about food? That doesn't work, does it?

Hello
If you don't mind me asking why you don't like sun light?
Im the opposite I get depressed when it's winter and cold. I try to cope with it. Getting into the holiday spirit. Halloween, thanksgiving, and Christmas. Sometimes I have good days and sometimes I have bad days.
Is it summer where you're at?
If you like nights a lot, when it starts to get dark go outside and breathe the fresh air.
Do you live close to other people?
If not, maybe have a camp fire.

I get depressed in the summer. I don't have agoraphobia but I get more anxious due to the increased amount of social events and ocassions that I'm expected to go to. My depression in summer is partly due to sadness at how anxious this makes me but I also get depressed that I am no longer able to do those outdoor activities which were once so integral to my life.

Hi. For me, I like to stay in the house , but crave sunlight. I live part time in CA,USA.
The rest of the time here in Costa Rica. Our season is opposite. It's summer here and has been since November when I arrived. April is start of rainy season. Rains every day. It's the Rain Forest.

i hate summer too. the heat makes be so drained of energy and motivation, i cant sleep at night at all. then you have the neighbours out in the back gardens or on the street being loud and playing loud music and spoiling my silence, then there is the ladies in the summer dresses which make me jealous as i want a girl, or the women in slutty clothing that makes me sexually frustrated. plus there is nothing better than wrapping yourself up nice and warm and getting snuggled, which you cant do im summer. its a ***** lol

I have agoraphobia and I dislike the summer a lot. It's noisier in my neighborhood. Children/people are out more often which makes taking out the garbage or getting the mail even harder. Not to mention, there are more planned occasions/events I'll be refusing.

sun = light

light= people going out their doing things

things like picnics, going to concerts, amusement parks, swimming, etc

because my agoraphobia has left me housebound for a very long time, i get in to this thought process... people are enjoying this, great, people are enjoying that, great, people are having fun... where's my fun. i'm stuck here on my own with not even a family to turn to

and then it just goes on, and on, and on

and it makes me feel sick thinking about it
