Does anyone have any tips or advice on how to overcome anxiety in a group situation.I am unable to attend group meetings, classes, courses, functions. This stems from when I was bullied by a group I hung out with at university thirty years ago,I was racially, sexually and emotionally abused by these people men and women and I fear the whole situation of me on my own and any number of other people of more than one.I must say I have come across such nastiness in individuals since and have handled it but have always since uni avoided groups. It ended badly with me in psychosis at uni and being made a laughing stock and the subject of gossip all over the campus. It cause me shock, horror and deep emotional wounds.Should I talk about it in therapy.

You should absolutely talk about it in therapy. It helps to remember that everyone involved in any group is self-conscious and worried about their own appearance and how they come across to people.

However, because of what you experienced I think without a doubt you should work with a therapist on it. Dealing with a trauma like that on your own can't be easy.
