i find it extremely obnoxious that whenever someone has some odd habit or whatever, as people do, they say "i'm totally ocd about _______". i just want to say to them, "oh really? where are your obsessions and compulsions? where's the torture? where's the embarassment? where's the hassle? i dont see it, do you? YOU DON'T HAVE OCD, you have a normal everyday habit, but somehow ocd has become popularized so you say 'oh im so ocd'. get over yourself." harsh? maybe. but im so sick of it. these people DONT KNOW WHAT THEY'RE TALKING ABOUT. i find this very irritating i find this very irritating

I know!!!!!! I was just thinking about this yesterday, and have thought about it many times before. Go on MySpace, or Google, and you'll find a lot of people, especially young people, who use OCD as an expression like that. First of all, you wouldn't be "obsessive compulsive disorder" about anything, you'd be "obsessive compulsive," or OC. (Sorry, my English language sensitivities kicking in.)

Then there's the more important point, which you make. These people don't know dip squat about OCD!!! It's hell, and it's torture.

Yeah, it makes me so mad when people say that. This girl that I used to eat lunch with at school dropped some food on the cafeteria table, wiped it off, ate it, and said that she was ocd about that stuff. I wanted to slap her silly, she made me so mad.

People who don't have ocd or other disorders just don't get. They say they have them just to get attention and it pisses me off

Speaking of which...

Pop Star Hilary Duff Admits to Being "Clean Freak"

Her friends say "it's creepy." The actress says she can't go to sleep anywhere without it being perfectly clean. She even cleans up hotel rooms before checking out - because she can't abide mess of any kind. Because of this, Duff suffers from sleep deprivation.

She tells Maxim magazine, "I'm OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder) when it comes to cleaning. I can't go to bed with a messy room. That would totally wig me out. It freaks me out to have dishes in the sink.

....from the HealthyPlace.com newsletter

Eh. . .as a person who has OCD I just give other folks the thousand yard stare. . .as I wash my hands for the 12th time (always 12). They stare at me like I'm some kind of alien but isn't it interesting that they WANT what I don't?

Amazing.

yeah, I think it's the fact that people don't like not having disorders like ocd because then they don't feel "different" amongst their friends and they don't have anything to joke about, and that they think that there's nothing hard about it. I just think it's a bunch of bs

If it's cool to be "OCD" about something, by all means, they can have my coolness.
