Hi all.
Was recently dx'd bipolar 2 with anxiety. Pdoc perscribe clonazepam first but I returned with complaints of a yucky feeling and of them taking too long to work. Now hes provided ativan.....but I didnt feel anything. Its like I didnt take it all. The clonazepam was 5 mg....the ativan 1 mg.....neither helped.I think the dose is too low on the ativan but pdocs are so ridged on theses types of meds. Theres no doubt that my anxiety/stress contributes to my bp,I just wish there was something better. Does anybody have any suggestions? thanks |

I don't have any immediate suggestions. Ativan helped me but I was on a higher dosage. Valium helped me too, but only for a while.

I just started taking clonazepam and effexor xr this week. While I don't suffer severe panic attacks I am having difficulty due to issues that are coming up during therapy. I recently had a panic attack and it felt like the walls were closing in on me. Several things in my life are making feel like I m slowly drowing and not able to stay afloat.
The new medications are doing wonders for me. It has helped me bring everyday stress to a manageable level and helps me to avoid turing to Si as a relief. insecurity |

i think maybe the reason the klonopin didn't help quickly enough is because the dose may have been off. ask doc if you can try it again with doseage adjustment. i too take effexor xr and klonopin for my anxiety and deppresion and it has helped me to cope where as before i couldnt function in daily life. the effexer xr also contains an anti-anxiety property to it and the combonation of the two have worked out well.
good luck. hope you find some relief recluse1 |

I've taken both Ativan and Clonazapan at higher doses than you've tried. I like the clonazapan better because it's longer acting and so doesn't leave me feeling anxioous between doses. I take 1 mg 3 times a day and 2 mg at bed time. Seems to work for me. But then i'm on a ton of other stuff too.

It's tough finding the right meds. I tried clonazapam but it just didn't work for me. I use seroquel now when my anxiety gets really bad. It puts me to sleep, but at least the anxiety stops.

I have a pretty negative view of medications. None of them (and that's lots) have helped me. I tend to think of them as ways for the medicators to avoid having to deal with the real problems.
