Greetings. So in the summer, I saw another psychiatrist, and she said I wouldn't have panic disorder because I don't have it often enough, even though there is no definition in the DSM-V for "recurrent". I get them once a month for an hour or two. I haven't one in a while, though I thought maybe I was having one last weekend, but I think I just needed food. I get them from social anxiety often due to one of my classes (music), but can deal with them and these are not unexpected, as they have a trigger. They usually don't have more of the "worse" symptoms for me anyways like dizziness, chest-tightening, etc.. My unexpected ones I may even start to cry, I have like 9-10 symptoms of a panic attack, and they are really long. But when I told her most of this (maybe not the symptoms and how many I have because she should know all the symptoms of a panic attack), she said "everyone has panic attacks once a month". I really think this lady needs to redo learning about anxiety disorders, since I know that only a 1/3 of people experience one panic attack in their life, not everyone once a month like me. So I was wondering about people on here who have panic disorder, and how often do you have panic attacks? I worry about having panic attacks all the time and even if I have one symptom of one, I immediately assume it's a panic attack. I don't avoid situations where I have had panic attacks, but I fear them happening. Thanks.
