Recently I've been easily overwhelmed. By the changes in my life, my thoughts, my family. It's making my anxiety worse. I don't want to go out much anymore. I keep procrastinating getting a job. I am too anxious to come out full time. It's like my life's been put on hold.

Any tips on being overwhelmed? I wish I could stop thinking and worrying so much. Has anyone successfully been able to keep themselves in the present. How?

And never have to breathe.

Life doesn't frighten me at all
Not at all
Not at all.

Life doesn't frighten me at all.

Hey, prof_x. I am trying to learn to just focus on the present. I try to do what I can to deal with each matter and then relax, knowing it's out of my control after that. (Plus, being a religious person, I pray about the issues and put them in God's hands. But that might not apply to you.)

I can get overwhelmed, but I have tried to learn not to take on any more than I can handle. Sometimes I get someone else to help me out.

A to you.

Yes, I feel I have. I took CBT over a year ago and to some extent it worked - well actually at the time. I fell off doing the work though and in hindsight my anxiety returned and grew proportionally. Things were very overwhelming Dec to early Feb; but, I have more recently made some great strides. I still have peaks of anxiety but the lows of anxiety are now far more common. The change may be that I have begun to 'live' the CBT again. I bought a CBT 90 day Journal. I have a task, assignment, or worksheet to complete every day. I thin it is really helping me again.

I practice the techniques in the book The New Earth by Eckhart Tolle. It is a very empowering book.

Practicing staying in the moment really is helpful for anxiety.
