Hi Folks,

I would like to take some advice regarding my condition, I am battling with anxiety disorder where i take Setraline and Cloimipramine. Which to extend helps with my anxiety. But I have lately realized I have essential tremor as well which in turn fuels my anxiety, and terms have become difficult with the antidepressant ( i guess mainly from cloimpramine ) which in turn aggravates my tremors, got to a point where I can not write my signature clearly and so are many my voluntary movements.

Worst cases if anxiety pops up I feel my body totally out of control, when like any tense or stressed events. It is a hell!

Has anyone troubled by same like conditions and any information you guys can share would be much grateful.

Thanks

my anxiety/panic attacks usually leaves me with intense nerve pains along my arms, with my right arm being the worst of them.

I believe I have something akin to this. I'm an older person & I've struggled with anxiety my whole life. Actually, at this point in my life, I don't even have anything to be anxious about. But I think my body has just "run on its nerves" for so many years it no longer knows how to do anything else. I'm not on any medication.

A few years ago I began to develop what felt to me like restless leg syndrome. Gradually, over time, it has spread throughout my whole body. So I now have that restless leg sort of sensation throughout my body 24 / 7. In my case, it's not significant enough that anyone else would notice. But I feel it. When I sit on our couch, I sit with my legs folded up & crossed, sort-of like as in a sitting meditation position because it stills the need to be constantly moving my legs.

My psychiatrist offered to put me on Klonopin. He said it would still the constant compulsion to move. So far, however, I've continued to decline. I walk & do yoga. These things help while I'm doing them. But as soon as I stop the sensations resume. It is really difficult to sort out what is being caused by anxiety versus what is the result of my "restless body syndrome", so to say.

Thx Skeezyks and Gethprime1977.

I did some search on web, and it seems people are getting some relief using prepranol and primodine. I am wondering if anyone taking antidepressent TCA or SSRI along with prepranol, and how effective is that? Is anyone out there tried, kindly give some words on your experience.

Thanks in advance

My pdoc put me on an anti-depressant (can't remember which one) but it caused something similar to restless legs and tremors. My pdoc put me on something called propranolol to help and it did help. I quit using the AD because it wasn't working.

Hi, I have a bad tremor from Latuda. I take Cogentin to help with the tremor. It's no miracle, but it does help some.

Thanks Jennifer, how is your experience after using propranolol and how was the experience while you took it with AD? ( Zoloft, prozac ? ).

I'm no longer on any medications, psych or otherwise. In fact I've developed something of an aversion to the whole idea. The last antidepressant I was on (a couple of years ago now I would guess) was Cymbalta. While I was on it, I started to develop some "jerkiness" in my arm & hand movements. For example, when I would be using my computer mouse, sometimes my arm would just suddenly jerk forward. Once I got off of the Cymbalta, the jerkiness went away. I have sometimes wondered if my current tremor is a holdover from having been on the Cymbalta. But, really, I have absolutely no basis for thinking that. And there are plenty of other things I could point to that might have caused it.

Essential tremor is an often misdiagnosed disorder, where is could progressively get worsen with age then most of the people start to realize that. It often develop to non-motor symptoms such as anxiety, depression even cognitive impairment.

One study suggests that anxiety or depression could be secondary illness that is caused essential tremor. if essential tremor is fire, anxiety is gasoline. which exactly what i experience.

if your shaking unjustifiably out of control you need to specifically stress with your doctor about the symptoms.

I heard some success stories in the web, with prepranol. or some other beta-blockers to relief the symptom.

Any coping, success stories would be highly encouraging.

I take propanolol and it really helps with the trembling associated with anxiety. It is also helping with the heart palpitations I am experiencing from the anxiety. However, it is NOT helping with that "knot" in my stomach.
