I do this. And recently I read of another person doing it because of their anxiety. So, I'm wondering if it's common among anxious people?

I do it because I like the comfort I feel from the pressure of my weight on my stomach. If I lie on my back I almost feel exposed and like I have too much room in my bed. I still have a cuddly toy in my bed to press against.

This interests me as well because craving pressure is something I've heard is common among people with ASD. Is there a crossover? Like people with ASD do anxious people have a greater need for pressure and the endorphins it releases? Could anxious people benefit from weighted blankets?

Thank you
And I'm sorry if I'm way off the mark and have offended anyone with my ignorance about such things

Not me. I start on my side and end up on my back.

I know a couple of people who have weighted blankets and it works for them. It calms them down.

I sleep on my stomach. Not sure if it's because of anxiety or whether it's just more comfy for me that way! I tend to roll onto my side in the night though!

I suppose it's like saying, you might feel safer under the covers. I always have to have something under there!

I sleep on my stomach. But I think it's just cause it's the most comfortable position. I go to my sides during sleep. But always end up back on my stomach cause it's not comfortable any other position. And I'm very aware of this because I toss and turn all night lol

The only time I didn't sleep on my stomach was when I was 6+ months pregnant.

I just find it more comfortable

This is interesting. I'm a 'rotisserie chicken' sleeper - side, back, front, curled, stretched etc. At least once each night, though, I wake lying on my stomach, and flip my pillow.

The weighted blankets are a good idea. They work for dogs, so it makes sense that they might work for people too.

Interesting. I do sleep on my stomach and I have night terrors/nightmares from PTSD. I never made the connection but come to think of it I do feel "safer" and less vulnerable when I'm on my stomach than on my back. I also ALWAYS cover up with a heavy blanket, even in summer.

I used to, and it was one of the most wonderful feelings in the world.

...until 10 months ago. I developed horrible back pain and an MRI revealed I had a muscle spasm in my neck [probably from all those years of sleeping on my stomach] along with a slight disc bulge at the end of my lumbar region. No more stomach sleeping for me.
