I have Social Anxiety. And A confidence issue. I can't talk openly with strangers. It takes time building up confidence for me. Is it part of my personality or just a problem ? Lots of people says it that it's not part of personality and some says it is. I'm lookin for opinions of professionals.

Hello gamer: I see this is your first post here on PC. So... welcome to PsychCentral. The majority of us, here on PC, are not mental health professionals. Our purpose here is to provide one another with support & to exchange information & experiences. So if you're looking for "professional opinions", PsychCentral may not be able to fulfill your need. That said, here's a link to an article on the subject of social anxiety by PsychCentral's founder & owner, Dr. John Grohol, Psy.D. The article also provides links to additional articles on the subject of social anxiety as well as related topics. Perhaps some of the information in these articles will be of some help:

I thought that the definition of a psychological disorder is something which causes you some degree of distress and impairment, relative to how you would like to be (and/or, causes undue valid distress to others).

Some people are more introverted or socially quiet than others, and that's considered normal. However, if you see that the level you have seems excessive and is causing you distress, and you want to change it, please do seek help with it. If you are personally comfortable with being a bit more quiet than the average, but some other people give you a hard time because of it, then that's a different problem with a different solution. It comes down to what do you want?
