Does anyone else feel so much of their anxiety that it turns into a self-hating rage?

I get so so angry with myself and I snap at people I care about because I get so twisted. I want it to stop.

I try to use meditation or calming music when I can - but sometimes when it actually is happening I cannot stop it.

What works for you guys? I could use some help...

Hey. I definitely get angry when I'm anxious. Like, punching a wall and breaking my knuckles kind of angry.
What works for me is stress balls and punching soft things. I don't know if you have the urge to punch things (that might actually be the ADHD talking there, idk), but stress balls are nice.
My therapist gave me a breathing exercise for anxiety where you put one hand on your chest and the other one on your stomach, then breathe. It seems kind of silly, but it works. Also, people never notice when I do it, so I don't get weird looks.

Hey there! I have a similar issue and I get so angry when I get anxious and will snap at anyone near me, most of the time I take it out on my girlfriend which is totally wrong and unfair. I have learned to be better though.

One thing that I have done since talking with my therapist that actually works is getting a notebook, paper, journal, computer, anywhere that you can write your thoughts. And write “I feel anxious because______. This makes me mad because _____.” And just write that out though every scenario with detail helps too. This gives you a chance to cool down and get out what you feel without hurting yourself or anyone around you. Then when the feeling is gone, you can reflect on it. It helps me a lot and hopefully it can help you!

Best wishes!
