So, I have a cousin visiting from out of town this weekend, that I haven’t seen in a while. Lately my depression/anxiety been mildly bugging me and increasing the closer the I get to the weekend. I feel terrible that I’m not looking forward to it because I’m anxious about it and just want to stay home instead of going out with her.Should I share this with her? Any advice anyone who deals with this would be appreciated.

Going out with her might be just what you need to get out of your depression. Don't let your mind take you down a negative path. Try to think positive about her coming to see you. She may be feeling the same way you do which would mean you would really be able to relate to her even better. Try to show her a good time and you'll have one yourself.

I love to go out...once I’m out. Leading up to it is beotch. Try not to beat yourself up for being anxious about it. If you feel safe telling your relative your feelings then go for it.

Ended up going out and meeting her. It went super well. It was really nice seeing her after not seeing her for like 5 years. It was also nice meeting her newborn and showing her around town and catching up. As far as my anxiety, we were so busy talking that it went away. Thanks everyone for the advice. |
