Hello,

I am doing a research on Social Anxiety Disorder trying to find a cure that applies to everyone.(I am more that 50% cured).

Being social anxious myself I noted some habits of thinking in my mind, I am wondering if this habits in universal among people with SAD.

Do you, when listening to some music, imagine people you know or you don’t know listening with you to the same music and you imagine their thoughts validating your taste in music? Or maybe you’re imagining their thoughts/feelings thinking or feeling about how sad you are (if it happened to be sad music)?

I mean you imagine what other people thinking about your taste in music, it’s like you are trying to seek validation from people even when you are daydreaming.

Now, music is just a random example, the same thing may also apply to watching TV show you like, do you imagine some other people watching with you and at the same time you also imagine their thoughts about you liking that particular TV show?

Again that was another random example; the idea is you fantasies when you’re doing solo activities, particularly, about other people thoughts on you about that activity.

Does this happen to you?
Last thing I want to say that I am not talking here about your daydreaming of normal conversation with other people, no , this is different I am talking about daydreaming of other people thoughts, thoughts that impress about how cool or smart you are.

If this is not clear ask me so I can explain more, but I hope it’s clear enough.

Please, please everybody share your experience, I already made huge progress with this research and I want to know if the methods I use can apply to everyone.

Thank you very much.

Further explanation/clarifying:

1. You are sitting on your couch alone watching TV, listening to music or reading etc...

2.You are also at the same time imagine some people sitting next to you watching or reading the same thing you read or watch.

3. You also at the same time imagine those people thoughts about you. Probably giving you positive feedback.

This is pretty much like you are visualizing/imagining/mental simulating how it will look like to show someone what your taste in music is (the simulation in your mind include the other person/group of people thoughts).

The idea here is seeking validation in daydreams.

If you do anything similar please report (doesn’t have to be 100% identical).

Thank you again.

Hello again,
The idea is simple:
Some people fantasize about being rich; meaning that they imaging/daydreaming about having huge bank account, living in a big house etc…
So, what I am saying here is this:
Do people with social anxiety disorder fantasize about being liked by other people? If so how exactly do you fantasize about being liked?

Now forgive me for repeating myself, did I mention that I have OCD

I do this a lot! Didn't really realise it before but I often imagine situations where people are impressed by me and think I'm cool. Usually it's my classmates or family members that I feel inferior to.
