After 10pm if I decide to stay up I always have this terrified/disturbed emotion that’s overwhelming and I can’t figure out why! I mentally go over in my head why I feel like this but I come up empty, there is literally no reason for me to feel like this. Does anyone have any suggestions or thoughts about this?

My thought would be that maybe your brain is associating the time after 10pm with something negative that may have happened in the past, maybe even something you've observed secondhand or a particular fear you have. Then again it might just be your body's way of saying that you're not a night person.

I would try to build up positive experiences after 10pm to slowly train your brain to think about that time of day as a good thing, instead of something to be feared.

Well... I really don't know. But one thing that occurs to me is your terrified / disturbed emotions might possibly be physiological if there's no reason for them you can discern. I recall reading an article in our local newspaper a while back. It talked about why people tend to crave sweets during the evening. The article said that the brain requires large amounts of energy to function. And sugar provides a quick burst of energy at a time when the brain has become worn down from the day's activities. So perhaps what you're experiencing has something to do with physiology & (possibly) what you are or aren't "feeding your brain", so to speak?

I know in my own case as it gets later in the evening, & during the night if I'm awake, my normal levels of generalized fear & paranoia (which aren't really of all that much consequence during the day most of the time) tend to become more noticeable. I do also think simply the fact that it's dark has an effect too though. That's why kids go trick-or-treating on Halloween after dark rather than at noon.
Thanks for this!
