I know for me when I get sick my anxieties not only get worse but I develop panic attacks.I wonder why that is.You feel like you have to much adrenaline. Am I the only one who feels this way?Or is it normal to be very anxious when we are sick?Sometimes I think it is because the illness maybe something worse.I do have health anxieties.

I don't know. For me, when I'm sick (which hasn't typically been often actually) my resistance is just down & so it's more difficult for me to maintain control. I keep enormous amounts of stuff tightly bottled up inside. It takes a lot of energy. And if I'm physically ill on top of it, it just becomes difficult to keep it all under wraps, so to speak. One part of it all is a constant rumbling of anxiety. So, in addition to everything else, I tend to become short-tempered. That happens when I'm physically tired too.

I don't get more anxious with illness. But I get this weird crap with fever and sleep. I can't fall asleep with fever. It's like suddenly I don't know where my body is, like for a moment my inner body map is missing. This leads to me flailing my arms and legs just so I can find them. Also I have more restless legs/arms as it is with a fever so this addon isn't welcome at all!! If my fever gets a little higher, I can't fall asleep, I go to the point where I am almost asleep, then I start seeing things to my inner eye. Like a wild animal attacking or something. And I am jerked awake.
Getting anxiety with illness can't be too rare though, the body tries to repair itself and yes then stress hormones are released.

For me it's the other way around. I just had a cold last week and I felt soooo much better mentally. It's gone now and the anxiety is back on super high today. I'm almost wishing for my cold back!
Maybe it's because I don't have any energy left when I'm ill. Or having real physical things to focus on - symptoms that I know the cause of. But maybe I'm just weird. I also tend to feel worse when I've had a good night's sleep. Like when I'm really tired, I'm just surviving, making it through the day, but when I've had more sleep, that's when the anxiety gets worse. Right now I also feel like the best thing to do for my anxiety is to sit or lie down and watch some Netflix, when my instinct is telling me to keep moving, to get this nervous energy out, and my body also feels like I need to DO something to get it out, not just lie down. My physical concerns about the future and a sense of a lack of control seem to kick my anxiety in....

I'm the opposite too. I have less anxiety attacks and can talk more easily when I'm sick an/or tired. I feel like I have a more "who cares" attitude, and have less energy to focus on my irritational mindset. |
