My anxiety is off the scale at the moment, I have resisted medication for a long time and still want to avoid psychiatric dirty drugs but am willing to consider something more natural like CBD, possibly. The question is, is it really effective and if so what's the therapeutic dose? It could get expensive so I don't want to waste my money on an ineffective dosage level.
Also, I want something to take the edge of my anxiety but not that's going to tranquilise me or cloud my mind. |

I took a good organic brand. The bottle was 1000mg and I took 1 dropper full 2x per day... Sometimes more if needed. The theory behind it makes a lot of sense, so I decided to go that route before trying any prescriptions. Another product that I take regularly is called RelaxMax by a company called Xymogen. It actually has a noticeable calming effect & can be taken as often as needed. |

Thanks - problem is it's very expensive so I think it can hurt to try it if I get something that costs a lot but is the wrong dose and purity also seems important (ie no THC) - also it doesn't help that Amazon doesn't allow companies to sell CBD so they use euphemisms which makes buying much less safe
I looked up RelaxMax but impossible to buy in the UK it seems (also the website doesn't state the ingredients which is a nono) |

Hmmm, would you consider the recommendation of a psychiatrist or is that out of the question? I think it better to be getting a substance that it's content is certified and a constant. Personally, I think medicinal would be the way to go; and, as it would be prescription would be cheaper for you too.

One other thing is that all my "experiments" before actually surrendering to prescription meds was discussed with both my med Dr and Psychologist as I was doing it. There were some things I learned like CBD had to be taken at least 4 hrs apart from my thyroid meds or they could negatively interact.... Things like that. I'd suggest talking to the Dr for reasons like that.

OK according to this there is evidence of effect but they are talking about really high doses -up to 600mg (which would cost a fortune at current prices)

I haven’t done enough consistently equivalent experiments to know how it will work for me but I plan to experiment a bit more. Someone bought me a bottle of the oil but I haven’t tried it yet... |

Let me try a different approach - this seems fairly affordable although I have no idea how long such a tiny bottle would last

Also, there are a few prescription meds that may be metabolized differently when you are taking CBD. My Blood pressure med was one of these. I asked my doctor before I took it & she said it should be ok. I monitored my blood pressure & haven’t Had any problems. Web site said meds that you can’t take grapefruit with are some of the ones that may be affected by CBD. |

Did you inform your psychiatrist that SSRIs make you more anxious, and if so what did she say?

She knows I have C-PTSD so my reactions are not those of people with typical depression but she has to go by NICE guidelines and offer SSRIs first because current practice is so behind the times. Don't want to use meds anyway.

I tried the cbd oil but couldn't handle it as it made me so anxious and nervous. I did take my psych meds with it too I think I shouldn't have taken them together. any reasons or suggestions as to why both wouldn't work together?

I don’t know whether they know enough about it yet. I initially asked a pharmacist & she said they had no info on CBD yet and she couldn’t give an opinion. My Dr seemed to think it shouldn’t be a prob w anything but some Drs underestimate the affects of non parmaceutical substances. I think, as with most drugs, that it is a very individual thing. I found that CBD chocolate made me a little anxious but smoking CBD weed did not. And I have never been able to smoke pot because it made me really anxious. I’ve also noticed that the caffeine in chocolate doesn’t bother me but in coffee or tea an equivalent amount causes prolonged panic. Never knew why. I would think talking with your Dr, reading up on it and cautious experimentation would be the way to go.
