Hi everyone, I used to be successful in life last time, but now I am getting more and more scared. I'm scared of reading long, difficult passages as my mind will wander easily. I'm scared of not being able to make the grade. And I'm also scared that if I make that grade, there'll be irritating classmates who want to steal your glory and/or trample you while they exalt themselves.
Please help. Thanks. |

Hello jaexlee: I believe this is your first posted thread here on PC. So... welcome to Psych Central.
You didn't mention what level of education you're currently in (e.g. high school, technical school, college, etc.) or how old you are. However what seems to be your overriding concern is fear... fear of reading & not being able to focus due to your mind wandering, fear of not being able to make the grade, & fear regarding classmates. I know reading long difficult passages is one of the things you listed as being a fear. So perhaps giving you links to articles on some of the concerns you brought up isn't the best solution for you. (The best solution might be to talk over the concerns you're having with a counselor or mental health therapist. Perhaps there's a counselor at your school you could start with?) However, for lack of something better to offer here on PC, here are links to 8 articles from Psych Central's archives. The first 3 are on effective study habits. The fourth one offers tips for finding focus. And the remaining 4 are on the subject of fear: Stress, Pressure, & Studying: Tips to Make it All Work For You 10 Highly Effective Study Habits Healthy Study Habits for Students 12 Foolproof Tips for Finding Focus Why We All Have Fear of Failure https://psychcentral.com/lib/overcom...king-mistakes/ https://psychcentral.com/blog/act-to-overcome-fear/ https://psychcentral.com/blog/how-to...lfilling-life/ I hope you find PC to be of benefit. __________________ "I may be older but I am not wise / I'm still a child's grown-up disguise / and I never can tell you what you want to know / You will find out as you go."
