Okay this is my fault but it wasn't because I just refused to pay the car insurance bill. I didn't pay my car insurance bill on time because one, I forgot and by the time I did remember the bill would not get to them until the 16th which was four days after the due date (10/12 btw). I didn't think it would be that bad but made a note to catch it a bit earlier next time as late payments aren't always good. I don't think much of it and go on my way. On Halloween I get a notice saying my car insurance is about to lapse. I paid that one but they get it today. At first I thought they lost the payment as this has happened before. I check my bank statement and notice that the insurance company received payment on the 16th but for some reason it was refunded on the 22nd. I had it set to be paid on the 16th, there was no overdraws, just a later than normal payment. I'm freaking out because I just realized how bad this could be ( I'm freaking out thinking I'm going to be arrested). I was not aware a late payment for car insurance could be that costly, even if it was just by a few days. My husband says we have to talk to the agent but I'm too afraid to do so. I know I will get screamed at and they might refuse to cover us or help at all. And I'll just waste their time anyway. I have never had bill trouble like this and I'm just terrified I screwed everything up. Sorry. I feel like I want to go cry.

The agent is there to help you. I'm sure they won't be mad or scream. They will just want to get you back on track as fast as possible so you are covered.
I'm sorry this is causing you so much stress. Remember just breathe you aren't the first person to pay an insurance bill late. I've done it myself and it really was no big deal fixing it. Now I have it automatically deducted each month so I can't forget. Gentle (((huggs))) __________________ I think I need help 'cause I'm drowning in myself. Checked the bank statement....I think they refunded it because I overpaid but it took a while to find it because when I checked to see if the bill went through it just said processed. I didn't even know it was returned until I looked at the statement really well. I'm just confused....why hold it for nearly a week and send it back.? My account wasn't overdrawn, I did overpay because I thought they would charge for it being late. Phone call is going to send me through several departments and not get the problem solved. I sent the new payment yesterday and checked it's status this morning. There are no pending transactions and everything us up to date. I think I will send an email or fax to be sure. What a nightmare.

They called my husband.....what more Now? I don't want to go. I'm sure I'll get a snotty remark with the fax and handwritten cover letter saying I was sorry is "not proof of payment and not to send crap like that." I really don't know what they want at this point....I gave proof it was paid, made an attempt to get it there as timely as possible and they did get the fax. Why can't they just take it? I made sure my info was on it, they know I have money cause I sent my sorry excuse of a bank statement. I've had it. I have paid other bills late and never had hassles like this. I need a drink.

You can pay almost any bill of any kind online now and also sign up to receive monthly reminders by email or, even better, text. I just got my phone carrier's reminder this morning while I was asleep that the bill is due in two days. So incredibly helpful. I urge you to set up a system like this so you don't have to constantly be in terror that you will miss a payment. I hate the internet, but some aspects of the internet are really awesome.

Update....two hours and two phone calls to the bank all while too scared to talk......they never got the payments. My bank verfied that it was not their end, it was the insurance company who lost it. I had had enough and went to the bank, paid the bill in cash and left with a receipt. It was a nightmare.
