This evening, I was walking up the stairs, surrounded by complete strangers, and tripped on the step, and fell. I had 2 people I did not know right behind me. I felt ashamed and embarrassed. When I was alone, I had a major panic attack over it. I know it sounds stupid, but It was so embarrassing falling on the stairs in front of strangers. I felt like a freak.

I've done it a few times. Yeah, it's embarrassing. But don't catastrophize the situation. Most people have tripped on stairs at some point.

We are all human and prone to errors, including tripping going up the stairs. I think that we all have done it at some point! The best advice I probably have ever been given is “why ruin your 24 hours over somebody else’s 5 minutes?”

I find it softens the blow when we interact with the strangers, afterwards. Like, "Gee, I tripped over my own feet and it's only Monday!" You'll like receive supportive responses from them.

I think what's worse is when we immediately crawl into a hole and make it awkward for everyone around us.. and then later agonizing over it.

Anxiety sucks, I know.

I always trip up my stairs because they were not put in correctly.

What would you think if you saw someone trip on the stairs? I'd either help them up or laugh with them and then go on about my day. The people behind you have probably forgotten it already. Don't be harder on yourself than you would be on anyone else.

I know how you felt. I find difficult even to stand up in a cinema when the movie is being projected because I’m afraid of falling down or don’t find my seat back with all that darkness.

For you to be a little calmer. Be sure, they didn’t see a person making a fool of herself, only a person who had a problem. Sure, they wanted to help you or they would have done it, if it has been serious. Now, they don’t recall anything.

Are you more or less ok, or did you injured a lot?

I am a klutz. I've done that and similar things more times than I can count. Yeah, it can be kind of embarrassing at the moment, but I am sure the other people that saw it have probably forgotten about it by now. Try not to be so hard on yourself.
