Does paranoia belong here under anxiety?
A couple days ago, I had a total paranoid freak out that someone was trying to steal my identity. I spent 5 hours straight signing up for identity theft protection, changing passwords, amongst other things unlike me. All the while with thos paranoid feeling that bad things were happening. Today, pdoc called for a normal appointment. I told her about the extreme feelings and thoughts of paranoia I had had- that I still have some of although they are down from a 10 to a 2 or 3. She suggested that I watch an old movie, To Catch a Thief. I'm still watching it in fact. She said she would call in a week and have someone call to check up on me once a day in the mean time. I still can't get those thoughts out of my head! I still think all those intrusive thoughts are true. Pdoc suggested that I take 2 mg extra/prn Haldol if it gets bad- or just whenever I feel its necessary. Does this count as anxiety- extreme paranoia? __________________ Wellbutrin XL 300 mg Caplyta 42 mg Ingrezza 80 mg Ativan .5 mg 2x/day Propranolol 20 mg 2x/day Mania (December 2023) Mixed episode/Hypomania (September 2023) Depression, Anxiety and Intrusive thoughts (September 2021) Depression & Psychosis (July/August 2021) Mania (April/May 2019) |

Dear Moose72,
The question you pose at the end of your post is a good one, but sadly I don't have an answer. Hopefully others here will see your post, read it and respond to your question. I sure hope the Haldol helps you if things get bad. It is heartbreaking that you have to go through all this! Sincerely yours, Yao Wen |

I suffer from paranoid schizophrenia and generalized anxiety disorder. You have no idea how many times I have changed my passwords and even deleted my email addresses and create a new ones. I've been known to have extreme paranoia and nothing ever worked for it. I take 5mg of haloperidol twice a day.

I’m not really paranoid. But I do worry a lot about certain things that I don’t think are going to happen or things that are that big of a deal. I’ve been getting some weird texts from some company looking for someone who is not me. I just blocked their number. Also I got a message that just said “hi.” That’s all it said. I had no idea who the person was. When that type of stuff happens it does make me want to throw out the entire phone.
I’ve also been getting magazine subscriptions I haven’t signed up for. Creepy stuff does happen but it usually doesn’t mean anything. But now I’m freaking out. This one dude a number of years ago at a store came up to me and looked like he was trying to grab onto me. When I pulled back he smiled and said “sorry. I thought you worked here.” Yet people say it’s all in my head. __________________ Ridin' with Biden |

According to my therapist paranoia is a form of anxiety. I believe it is.

I have absolutely experienced paranoia as a feature of anxiety as well as delusions. I spent most of the month of September struggling with derealization and delusions. I have also experienced paranoia as a feature of my anxiety. My paranoia is linked to a trauma that was almost two years ago now.
