I am starting to work again next week and I wondered how to structure my day.

Do I work for an hour and break for half an hour? Or do I push myself to work 8 hours streight?

What kind of job is it? Many jobs won’t allow half an hour breaks every hour. If you are allowed to take breaks it’s fine but half an hour every hour is going to make your days very long

It really depends on what type of work you are doing and how much your employer expects you to produce. For example, in my case, I do freelance business writing. My client normally expects me to get one project done a day. There is some variation on how long they can be, so, I need to arrange my time to make sure I get things done. What type of work are you doing? Have you received any guidance from your employer? I would think a first day would include some training. For most jobs, a half hour break after an hour of working sounds like a lot of down-time, I think.

It's a job in IT, I am a student worker. I have a project for the next 6 to 8 months, but I don't really know yet how much work it will be. I will require training, but I hope that I will have a lot of time in-between. If it is anything like my last training, I will get someone on my virtual side and just ask for his time whenever I need it. If not, well, then I'll have to accomodate that.

I wonder if a longer day with lots of breaks (e.g. from 7am to 6pm) would be better than a short day.

No, I don't. Does it really help? It might just remind me of my bad moods

How often do you write in it? Just overall mood every day, or whenever it shifts?

Hopefully whoever is training you can help give you some pointers about work scheduling. They may want you to be available at certain core hours or similar. I would ask some questions early on. Good luck and let us know how it goes!

Thanks My boss doesn't have time, but I think that might be to my benefit. The last two days, I started working really early, so there isn't anyone that can interrupt me before almost half a day is over.

Largely, I am training myself for the moment. I am just reading a book about the subject I will work on for the next few months. Also, I have time to prepare an exam

I just need to remember to make breaks.

I have a routine which sort of keeps me stable. It's more the coworkers I
n many cases that are my stressors .
