Today, I was watching the News and I recalled you because there has been given a concert as an experiment to see if it’s safe to celebrate concerts following certain safety rules. In this case, a previous test and the use of FFP 2 masks. The outcome is kind of promising because noone got infected.
The Netherlands has been doing lots of test events but no one is entirely clear on what exactly they are testing and how. It's all a bit of a mess over there. They're also loosening restrictions with numbers that are over three times what triggers the "emergency brake" in Germany

The one win for common sense was when a planned "test event" for 10.000 people (yes, 10.000!) was cancelled. Health care workers from a hospital nearby started a petition against the event, which was signed by over 300.000 people.

More talk of giving vaccinated people more freedom in Germany. Maybe my parents can finally come to visit in a few months. Haven't seen them since September last year. Although I would also like to visit my home town again but I'm still not expecting my vaccination any time soon.

Hi @BreakForTheLight I'm feeling good now thanks, it was just a couple of days, shivers, a little joint pain and sore arm.

Hoping that your parents can visit soon! It sounds promising for the summer. I know Germany are a little behind UK with vaccination, but our experience shows infection/serious illness rates really drop off once you hit 50% vaccinated especially when the vulnerable are done.

A little behind that's somewhat of an understatement.

My state has given the ok for everyone to be vaccinated with AZ, no age limit (or at least people 18 and older? Not sure to be honest) and no priority, but I just checked my GP's office's website and they're not vaccinating people under 60 with AZ so I wouldn't be able to get it anyway. And I'm still a little apprehensive of AZ. Both my parents had Pfizer with no more side effects than a sore arm. As someone who hasn't even had the flu in 20 years, a fever or shivers would freak me out

Glad to know that you are going well.
I knew it. My neighbour, whose wife, was vaccinated with AztraZeneca told me that she felt a little under the weather for a couple of days. But, that’s it.

In Spain there is being considered the choice to apply people who received AstraZeneca as a first dosage, receiving a second dosage but of a different vaccine.

Glad your parents are getting their vaccines. My aunti who is a dependent person received already her second dosage of Pfizer and my mum is gonna receive her first dosage next week.

I wanted to say that human stupidity is bigger than the universe.
I’m worried and upset for what it’s happening in India.
I can’t forget the images I saw on TV of crowds and crowds going on a pilgrimage to river Ganges.

I’m not putting the blame on Indians. I’m trying to spotlight how much daring most of us had been along this pandemic.

I hope I didnt worry you about side effects, they were very mild, just like that feeling when you wonder if you're getting a cold and then your system fights it off, nothing as bad as flu. It's funny but I had no colds at all this year due to social distancing and masks I think so I had forgotten what a cold feels like. My instinct was to hide myself from my family in case I infected them with germs but of course there was no infection just a normal side effect.

Oh no it wasn't you, just the general stories you hear about AZ having more side effects. Just yesterday the news came out (reputable source, not some image shared by conspiracy theorists on Facebook) of a 32-year-old dying after receiving her AZ vaccination.

It seems like every country is setting their own age limit - in some countries it's only for 30 and up, others are sticking to 60 and up..... I'll get what I'm offered, I just hope it's Pfizer. Or the Janssen, one shot and you're done.

Here AZ is 55 and up for women and 18+ for men since the clots seem to be an issue for women. That means that it's pretty much only going to be used for men, since most people over 55 have already been vaccinated.

My husband and I took a week off from work last week. We are still locked down, so we didn't get to do much. At least this time the plant nurseries are allowed to operate in lockdown and we were able to buy and plant some bushes for the front yard. They are supposed to grow fast, to we hope they will provide some shade by next summer. We also did a few other projects around the house, like painting, and disconnected from the computer.

The high rent district of Santiago was let of lockdown but not most other areas of our region. Honestly, my area is over 300 active cases, so they are not going to free things up at that rate. Anyways, now that the rich and powerful move out of lockdown, they will forget about other areas like mine even if they do improve. We are doing better with the pace of vaccinations than the national average. A friend who lives in another region said that cases never went down there, but after 8 weeks they were quietly moved to phase 2 without any explanation as to why. We are at 6 weeks and 2 days. I'd like to get my hopes up for something like that, but the Health Undersecretary has said in the past that there is a higher standard set for the Metropolitan Region.

Even with the lockdowns and the fast rate of vaccinations (this week first doses correspond to healthy people in their early 40s), active cases only went down 6% between two weeks ago and the past week. Deaths went up 4%. So, we still are making almost no progress. I don't know when we will see the supposed impact of Sinocrap on deaths. They keep moving the goalposts.

All I know is that if it's a few weeks past when I get my second dose (I go on May 12th) and I am still locked down, I am going to be pretty pissed off. There is talk that the Health Ministry is working on a plan that would eventually allow more freedom for people who are fully vaccinated. I have no idea when that will take effect, though.

Yay for plants! I've started buying them online as I don't even know anymore what the shopping rules are like over here. Yesterday I got some flower pots and potting soil and split two of my plants into several pots, today or tomorrow I'm getting a few more plants delivered. Will see how the quality is and then maybe order some more. I plan on turning my flat into a jungle

@BreakForTheLight - Oh no, that sounds like Sinovac's Coronavac under another name!

I just read that they will be giving out Pfizer at a more convenient location for me starting this week, so I should be able to go there next week for my second dose. It's likely to be less busy than the vaccination center downtown as well.

That's great about your plan to make your apartment into a jungle. We are mostly laying down stones and mulch in the front yard because it's hard to grow grass, but we want to add some more plants that can handle the strong summer sun too. I tried ordering from a place that delivered for the side yard, but a lot of them died. I don't know if it was my error or an issue with the plants. With lockdown last year, the nurseries were closed, but since things constantly change, they were open this time. I called to make sure, because I didn't want to waste a permit.

We did a lot of lazy TV watching over our days off. There's this program called Divina Comida (AzulOscuro, you may want to check it out on YouTube) that every episode brings together 4 famous people - politicians, actors, comedians, singers, etc. for four dinners. Each person has to cook a three course one night and they are graded by the other participants. One episode had the former Social Development Minister, who is a presidential candidate, participating. He had this lovely vegetable garden and a lot of his ingredients came from that. I grew a few veggies and herbs this year, but seeing that inspired me to do more next spring. I don't want to plant right into the ground. The soil is pretty rocky behind the house and the dogs may get into it. I saw these large planters and fell in love - Macetero Normal ! They are kind of expensive, though. I am so tempted to buy 4 and plant stuff like peppers, tomatoes, lettuce, etc.

Hmm. One for the "why am I not surprised" file. Two municipalities in our region were shifted out of lockdown to phase two. Both have more active cases now than before they were locked down, but still were allowed to move to a less restricted phase. I really suspect that there are some sort of political motivations or other considerations driving these decisions rather than public health.

Well, I am looking at other large planters and the prices for those pretty wood ones are in the same price range. I may need to do it! The manufacturer is in Santa Cruz, which isn't all that far a drive. Maybe when things open up, we can take a drive to pick them up in person.

Yeah, I originally read the news on a Dutch website - it's Sinovac. The article even mentioned the doubts about its effectiveness.

It's been decided that fully vaccinated people will get more freedom. No curfew or contact restrictions, shopping without having to take a test first, and no quarantaine when traveling from another country. Lovely. So the older generation can go on holiday while we are still waiting for our vaccine. Not like we've given up a year of our lives to protect them or anything. Of course now other groups are seeking media attention saying they need to be vaccinated next - parents and youngsters. Sure, no problem, I'll just keep on waiting at home by myself, not talking to any other human being, because that's not at all harmful to me!

My plants have been on the way to the delivery point all day Guess it'll be tomorrow before they are finally delivered.

Break from the jungle.

After reading the article you posted I’m nearly glad that I don’t still apply for a vaccine.

Yes, lol...you’re right. Everyone is standing up by saying they have the right to be vaccinated before, for example, people who work n the tourist sector in the islands.
I thought, oh well...live your lives and good vacations to Germans and British people why we are here at that corner, in the hottest city. Go ahead!
And still we have to be grateful because what it’s happening in India is very sad.

I know which program you are referring to. I used to watch it often, I even watched the Chilean version. But, not with famous people. Look, it ending up being pretty addictive.
Divina comida! Just now, I don’t think it will a good idea for me since I’m trying to lose the kilos I put along the ****ing lockdown. lol!

Oh no @BreakForTheLight I hope your plants can be redelivered or reordered. It sounds like a good plan to bring the outdoors indoors with you.

I understand how you feel about unfairness of vaccinated being given more freedom before everyone has had the opportunity to be vaccinated.

My son is early 20s and he is way down the list, yet he's still being asked to work in a high risk environment! Young people can and do get sick/long covid.

Hoping your turn will eventually come!

More stupidity from here. There is a musician who was busted for having a clandestine party a little while back. The other night was his birthday and he had 4 friends over to his apartment. His area is in phase 2, so you are allowed to have gatherings of up to 5 people. I guess they had the music on loud because a neighbor called the cops to complain. The police came and arrested them all for a “curfew violation” because it was after 9 PM!?!?! Curfew means you are not allowed to be out. They were in an apartment. Now the government has the idiot crime prevention undersecretary on TV to say that after curfew you can’t be in someone else’s home. You have to be in your home to prevent virus transmission. So, the virus is only dangerous if you are with other people after 9 PM? Up until 8:59 the virus behaves?

It seems like such an overreach. It feels like the police, military, etc. are so accustomed to repressing us that they have lost any criteria. If they were violating a local noise ordinance, fine him for a noise violation. But, curfew violation in your own apartment? What stupidity. If his visitors had realized it was getting late and tried to hurry home, but were caught on the streets, that could qualify as a curfew violation, which is still annoying, but it would have made more sense.

That is crazy! But really, you're allowed to have 4 people over? While you have such harsh restrictions? I would think having 4 people over is higher risk than going outside for a walk.

Ugh, I wish I had the guts to just turn around and snap at the people breathing down your neck at the supermarket "It's REALLY not that hard to keep your distance".

@BreakForTheLight - that was in a municipality where restrictions have been eased somewhat. They are in phase 2, not 1 (lockdown), but curfew applies everywhere regardless of phase. Where I live visitors wouldn't be permitted at all right now because we are in phase 1.
