Fingers crossed she escapes it! I agree, Covid sucks. I wish it hadn't happened in our lifetime (or anyone else's).

I'm starting to find myself being bored because we might go back to shut down again.

I don't think more lockdowns are likely. They are not even under consideration here and I live in a Covid dictatorship that still has mask mandates, capacity restrictions and vaccine passports.

I think (might be wrong) that the only place that’s locking down is China now? If you are in US I doubt you’ll face another lockdown at this stage.

Even Australia has given up on lockdowns.

Australia has decided to '''let Covid rip.''' Is that a good idea?

My mum tested positive a few days ago. Apparently my dad didn't get it. She had a fever one night and says she has a very sore throat but feels fine apart from that.

I'm still debating if I should get a booster. Or a second booster according to every other country besides Germany where I am already considered boostered. 3 weeks to go until my holidays and my plans have now gotten fairly insane with several concerts/festivals and a convention my biggest fear is getting positive right in the middle and having to cancel the rest.

At home I'm still dealing with the isolation. Although working at the office is now possible again, almost everyone from my team is still working from home so even if I went to the office, there'd be no one there.

Hope she recovers very soon.
How many shots have you received so far?

I've had 2. First one was J&J so only one shot for full vaccination, then i got a booster with Pfizer.

I understand it. You’re still very young. I was recommended the third dosage thus, if I didn’t have it taken I couldn’t have access to COVID certification or the passport.
Think about this third shot even when you are young. Since you are going to attend to places with crowds, I think it could be worthy to give it a second thought because it’s proven that the vaccines are being effective in what showing up mild in the most part of the population.

The vaccine question doesn’t seem as straight forward to me as it did last year, it doesn’t seem to protect against infection too well with these new variants, but maybe it’s helping prevent serious illness. If you’re young though that’s much less of an issue.

I’ll be offered number 4 plus a free flu jab this autumn and I’ll take it, no vaccine certificate here but it seems like a good idea ahead of winter for me to get boosted. I’m over 50 and in contact with vulnerable people regularly though.

That, and there's also constantly talk about a new/adapted vaccine coming out for the new variants, you think "I'll wait for that one !" And then it doesn't happen.

And omnicron seems milder in general. I think my risk of getting seriously ill from it is quite low, and it doesn't protect against getting infected and testing positive.

Several vaccination centres have closed now, I'm not sure where there is one near me (of course I can find out). On the one hand I'd like the extra protection before my holiday but on the other hand I'm already so stressed about it I don't want to add even more to my to-do-list and possibly deal with a day of fever/headache like I did last time.

Austrian doctor dies by suicide after months of death threats over public support of COVID vaccine - Washington Times

This is so incredibly sad and makes me very, very angry. Those people who sent death threats are purely evil and delusional, nothing else I can say about it.

There were protests against the corona measures here this weekend as well. Ridiculous, there's hardly any restrictions at the moment!!

I don't know if that was the same one I came across or if there were even more stupid people about on Saturday.... I was on my bike when I noticed a lot of police motorcycles on the road, blocking off the road completely. (I could keep going on a separate bike lane.) Then finally the idiots arrived: a bunch of cars with banners and a few of them playing a tape with a bunch of anti-vaxx and anti-everything nonsense. LOUDLY. and they were going slowly so they were riding next to me for several minutes. Noise terror. I was SO relieved when they turned into a side street!

Maybe, just maybe, we will see the light at the end of the tunnel as far as Covid restrictions here. My husband works for the government. They have gone from telework to hybrid recently, with people taking turns going into the office in pairs a few times a week. A few days ago, his agency announced that everyone has to be back in the office in September.

The health emergency expires in September. That is what permits restrictions like mask mandates and vaccine passports. Without the health emergency, the government cannot take those measures. It also was what allowed government employees to work hybrid or from home. Anyways, we are thinking the higher ups were told they need to bring people back to the office because the government is letting the emergency expire.

How sad that this scientist took his own life. Very sad.

People aren’t sometimes aware of the harm they may cause.

I understand the vaccines were allowed very fast but there was a true emergency. There were many people, especially, the elderly population dying.

Now, it’s time to look for responsibilities in case there may be a responsibility by human hand.
I wonder whether these protesters were the same who came here to celebrate crowded parties.

The stupidity continues. Tourists no longer have to validate their vaccines with the Health Ministry to visit. A certificate from their home country, showing just one or two vaccines counts as a vaccine passport for them and they can go to concerts, dine indoors, attend sporting events, etc. Meanwhile, citizens and residents still need four vaccines to maintain a valid vaccine passport and have the same privileges. We are second class people in our own country.

I know they want the tourist dollars. Honestly though, living here year round, I contribute more to the economy and tax service than people visiting for a week or two.

I hate this incompetent government.

¡Viva la igualdad! ( lo digo en un sentido irónico, por supuesto)

It’s clear than some people are considered more “equal” than others.

Do you guys remember that song by Spandau Ballet “Gold”. Well, that is.

Ugh, now some health policy institute here is calling to expand the vaccine passport to more places like public transit, schools and even supermarkets to "encourage" holdouts to get vaccinated. Ridiculous. I hope the government doesn't listen. There is still no announcement as far as what will happen with the health emergency, if they are going to let it expire or renew it.
