I'm sorry you are having so much difficulty with this. Getting to sleep, as well as staying asleep, has been a problem for me as well. I take 25 mg. of Trazadone before bed. (I'm also on 1.5 mg of Clonazepam.) The Trazadone's not a cure for my sleep-related problems, but it helps. I've tried increasing to 50 mg. a couple of times. But it made me groggy the whole of the following day. So I cut back to 25 mg. again. I hope you are able to find something that will work for you as well. Best wishes...

I am sorry. Is there anything over the counter you can take?

Hi people, thank you for advices. I've been to doctor today and got sleeping pills and some Xanax, but I don't think that's permanent solution. I believe you can't take sleeping pills for longer period of time, and also Xanax causes addiction. So, I will have to find the cause for my insomnia. It might be depression and anxiety, but insomnia just makes them so much worse.

My husband just started taking melatonin and I cannot believe how effective it is. It scares me a little! He was going through a phase of insomnia where mind racing was not allowing him to sleep. Now he is going to sleep at a normal time and waking up bright eyed and bushy-tailed. Here, it is something you buy over the counter in the vitamin/herbal supplement aisle. I don't believe it is addictive like sleeping pills but I share those concerns and am not sure I could bring myself to try it.

Thank you, but I tried Melatonin first. It worked for some time, I used it for months, and then it didn't work anymore.
Maybe I overdid it or something? I feel like I have to much anxiety to fall asleep without serious aid.
