I saw a commercial either for Downey or Tide that they now make detergent that is called Calm. I wonder if it would actually help with anxiety or if it’s just a scheme. I’m willing to try anything though that isn’t meds. I used stress free soap for a bit. It worked pretty well but my therapist called it a placebo affect. And I was like “so? What’s the problem if it’s a placebo affect but it still works?” Lush has a lotion called Sleep and it worked so well I felt like I had a med hangover the next day. But I only got a few sample packs and it’s really expensive.
Has anyone heard of this calm stuff or used it? __________________ I'm Blue |

If a placebo effect helps its not wrong to employ it, IMO. I think what you’re describing is probably supposed to work on the same kind of principle as aromatherapy does - certain scents are supposed to have calming (or other) effects on people. Doesn’t work for everyone but I don’t see the harm in trying.

This is really interesting to me, although I'm in the UK and this detergent isn't available to my knowledge here.
I think sense of smell is very powerful and primal, so I don't doubt certain smells can calm us as well.as invigorate. I use an oil by Tisserand called Sleep Better and it soothes me. Let us know how you get on please! |
