Hi there,
Over the many years, I have been struggling with what I now know to be severe anxiety. I've tried all the typical ssri and a couple of the snri meds that will reduce the anxiety but never enough to regain a love for life and things I once loved. The things that always seem to be missing are things that I once had are motivation, drive to learn, love for reading, and memory.

Motivation is terribly low, memory is bad, and my once love for reading is still in there but I have absolutely no desire to do it. As I try new meds, I will often get a spark of motivation and begin to read again but after a couple of days it wanes and disappears.

If any of you have dealt with something like this, would you please respond and provide me with the medication and dosing that seemed to help you? I will be seeing my pdoc in a few days and want to share any insights that I glean from you.

Many thanks!

I am so sorry you are struggling. It brings back so many memories of my struggles with medication trial and error. The whole thing can be so disheartening and demoralizing and frustrating too. And being burdened with anxiety and being frustrated is not a good combination by any means.

I am on Citalopram and Buspirone for Depression, GAD and panic disorder. I will have to look up the dosages for you.

Sharing what helps me, and it does help me, is not medical advice. I am totally unqualified to offer advice. I am not a physician or medical professional and even if I was, I do not know your medical history.

Hopefully your prescribing physician will find something that actually helps you. It is awful and tragic to be stuck and trapped in misery!

One thing that helped me a lot was reading books by Cognitive Behavioral Psychologists, the famous ones. To be quite honest, face to face therapy was not helpful to me although I know it helps others.

Wish I knew what to say to help you. Hopefully others here will prove more helpful to you. It is heartbreaking that you are suffering!
