I have bug bites on my legs and arms. They're very itchy. This just started a couple days ago. I'm freaking out worried that some biting insect has invaded my apartment. I don't go hiking or spend time outside much. I have no pets. I never had a bug problem before. Now i'm afraid to go to bed.

I'll probably talk to a professional exterminator tomorrow. I am having debilitating anxiety over this. I'm getting very depressed.

Nobody likes bugs, but I'm getting phobic thinking that I may have been sleeping with bugs. I just took some Ativan. I hope it helps.

But problems can be solved. I'm worried that, even with the help of professional pest control, I may have a huge task of pulling my apartment apart.

I think I might need more anxiety medicine to get through this.

Did you travel recently?

Did you purchase any new cloth-based items or furniture recently?

Did you purchase any thrift-store or garage sale items recently?

Did your neighbors travel or have guests over recently?

Have you had guests over recently?

Do you have new neighbors who moved in recently?

If you answered yes to any of the above, you might have a bed bug infestation, which could be located between the walls of two apartments, duplexes, condos, townhomes, etc. - or it could be centrally located within your home. I replied to a different post you made about this, but calling an exterminator will help.

If the bites are all over your body and not just in one or two places, you might have an infestation.

If you have a pet or fostered/watched a pet somewhere else or in your own home, you might have a flea infestation.

But if the bites are like small red welts, and they are in groups or lines of twos and/or threes, then those are consistent with bed bug bites.

I know - I've dealt with both years ago.

I'm more careful now.

Fleas are easier to exterminate than bed bugs.

Bed bugs require multiple steps.

A pest control professional should be able to help you.

You also need to notify your landlord if you don't own your home.

Also check about spiders, too.

While you have pest control out there, see what preventative measures you can take while you are getting rid of this problem. That way, you can prevent other creepy crawlers as well.

(((safe hugs)))

As long as they aren't roaches - the worst kind of pests that can cause asthma and some other diseases, you should be okay. But it's a pain to deal with bites and itching.

There are many things you can do to your bed to help prevent bugs from coming up them. Ask the pest control professional how you can prevent things that way, too.

SprinkL3 - thanks. My answer is no to the questions you asked. I did text my landlady yesterday about the problem. She's nice. I'm waiting today to get calls from exterminators on Angie's list.

This being bit just started a few days ago. So I'm hoping it can't be too bad yet. I would like a professional to inspect. I don't see any bugs.

This is giving me awful anxiety.
