Are people born insane or do they catch insanity or get it somehow?

Really scaring myself just now

I don't know, but I think "insanity" forms a continuum. At one end are individuals like Hitler and Stalin and Mao and Pol Pot, individuals who think happiness and the meaning of life comes from destroying the lives of tens of millions of men, women and children through genocide or campaigns of forced starvation. Most people never sink to this level of insanity. I guess insanity, whatever that means, has a genetic and an environmental component. I am often wrong about things and perhaps I am wrong about all this too.

Willowtigger, is it possible you dissociate? I sometimes think I've done or said things only to find I haven’t, or conversely do or say something but have no memory of it.

Does that sound like what could be happening for you?

Oh, my goodness! I know. It's awful. Mental illness is so unfair. It gives us riddles & scary thoughts. Sometimes I cry. I try so hard, but maybe I'm just doing, whatever it is, wrong. Let's cross our fingers for each other & maybe that will help.
