I came to P.C./MSF years ago because of my longstanding problem with recurring depression. I never saw myself as having an anxiety disorder. Well, I've been having worsening anxiety lately, and I'm finding that this anxiety is worse than being depressed.

It's like a faceless monster following me around and hovering over my head. I can't get away from it. There's nothing going on in my life that I need to be real worried about. That's why I say this monster is "faceless."

I want to get some kind of medication to calm down because it's exhausting to be all tensed up around the clock.

I don't even know how to explain this to a doctor. I asked my primary for some Ativan. She said no and is sending me to a pdoc. I'm thinking of asking him for Seroquel. I need something. This has gone on too long.

Oh Rose,

I am so sorry to hear about your anxiety. It can be worse than the depression from what I've experienced.

Yes, you need to see a pdoc as soon as possible. Try moving up the appointment, asap, or go to emergency.

Keep us posted...

Most doctors don't want to talk about it. A hospital Dr. 30 yrs ago yelled at me when I said I was anxious and nurse refused to give me xanax one night.

The anxiety simmered down. I'm not having that almost unbearable feeling today. It felt like I would have done anything to escape it.

I'm just lying down still after having some tea and toast. It was exhausting. Somehow it went away, while I was sleeping. At least I think it's gone now. What an experience.
