Dear Friends,
It’s been a while since I wrote last. Still in Tokyo, I’m still trying to find ways to get my kids back, but is very unfortunate that my ex wife doesn’t help. I have a family back home that needs my support, but is all too much and I struggle keeping a balance. I feel I am trying to take care of all but I can’t take care of my self. It is a terrible feeling.
I am very empathetic as well and coming to the title.
The world seems up side down and many injustices if I care about all things then I think I will completely lose my mind.
Appreciate any advice dearest friends.

Aaw, I totally hear you captaineo, and, bro, you will lose your mind attempting to grasp the magnitude of sufferings out there, but yes, you can't help but think/worry about the world and people, lives. I'm similar that way.

But you have a lot on your plate as it is captaineo, you're powerless to do anything except what little things you can, right? Yes, that's like everyone else, too.

You hear this all the time in self-help, mental health, spirituality, philosophy etc - "your health must come first" and that covers a lot of things too. Your health must come first captaineo, and, so, I think save most of your energy for that very important thing.

That's really all I can offer captaineo, and sending good vibes, good energy, out to the universe for you🙏

Put your health first.

It's not that I'm careless about world issues, but I've stopped reading the news daily or watching it on TV or listening to it on the radio. It just stresses me out, causes anxiety and panic attacks, I just cannot handle it. It sounds like you already have enough stressful anxiety provoking problems to deal with; put your worries about the world to the side. Concentrate on yourself first. There are so many horrible things out there we are unable to change; you have to accept that and move on to the things in your life you DO have the power to change. It is shallow, I suppose, but I have to do it to be able to function as a wife and a mother.

You're probably familiar with the idea in eastern philosophy of remaining in the present? It's a fairly well-known concept. The idea that the past is gone and you can't do anything about it, and the future is unwritten so it's not worth worrying about. Thus, you need to live in the present.

But living in the present also means living within your surroundings. You aren't present in other areas of the world. You can't be present there. You can be aware, but not present.

With so many of the problems in the world, we are helpless from our present locations. As horrible as they are, and the global implications that they may have, they may not actually have a significantly profound effect on our day-to-day lives. And even if they do, what can you realistically do about them? Is it worth devoting a lot of your thoughts to them? Probably not.

I guess the whole point is to remain present in your life, in the arena of events that directly affect you, and that you can directly affect in return in some way.

It's okay to be aware of what's going on in the world, but that doesn't mean that we should put our consciousness into that location. It's okay to not have those events overshadow your life as it is today, it's okay to go about your life in your direct surroundings. If we can't contribute something helpful directly to those problems, then it can actually be unhealthy to focus on them.

I don't do the news or keep up with anything going on. Just the huge hype with incoming hurricanes can make me over worry. Yes, I need to be aware, but not focused on it. The hurricanes tend to stay more south and I am more inland so I'm good. But the media will get hold of it and make it sound like we are all going to die. It is like this every time one starts heading for FL. It is going to be cat 5 at landfall, flooding, evacuations..... in realty, it ends up blown up way to big. Anyway, I don't need the borage of all that is going wrong. For me, in this case, ignorance is bliss because my mind likes to go with it. So, no, I don't think you need to bother yourself with what is going on in the world. Take care of you and the things that you are able to directly influence. Except the things you cannot change, change the things you can, and discern the difference.
