I had a slight situation the other day while shopping. Lately, I've been getting more and more depressed and when I was younger I would get terrible paralyzing panic attacks. The ones where your vision focuses down to a single tunnel and you can't stop looking at something all the while you see darkness. Spinning rooms and light headedness...you know the fun ones?

I almost passed out in the middle of a shopping mall. I don't even know what triggered it. I used to have panic attacks while in highschool, but that was such a stressful environment, it's not wonder I didn't pass out. But yesterday was just so unexpected.

They're just coming out of the blue lately, what should I do?

sorry if this is a silly question, please just put it down to I don't know you and sorry if I offend you but...

have you told your doctor....or thought about writing down AFTER the panic attack is over where you were, what you were doing, what other people were doing etc....then you might find the reason why you're panic attacks have restarted or are so bad.

hope you work it out and they stop for you soon. I'm getting panic attacks again.

I don't tell anyone about them...more or less because I have no one to tell them to.

I've more or less been trying to manage them on my on, I guess...I don't even recall what was going on when it happened either. It literally just came out of the blue....

sorry I'm not much help...guess all I can say is either tell your doc or fone up a helpline.

good luck to you though I'm getting panic attacks again.

there is help for them..
I know they are scarey.
I am sorry you are having to go threw this
Can you see if there is a trigger that sets them off

Have had a few in my life time.....I find breathing helps
or meditating

Get help if you need it. Asking for help is a good thing

You might want to ask the doc if there's any quick acting med you can take if needed. I've found that just having something in my purse is enough to calm me. I have Xanax by the way. It's not for long term use.

wow i thought t was the only one who gets the same symptoms i don't go to stores to much because of it once it got bad for me and the store started spinning on me and i was scared since then to go back to the store but this thursday i will be seeing my pdoc after a yr and i will be back on meds try and see a pdoc meds might help you and if it's not bad for you u will prob be off meds in a yr

I can totally relate to your attack while shopping. I had that happen to me about 6months ago with my 4yr old son in tow. It was horrible, scary, and I thought I was going to pass out right in Meijer. I use caution while going out now, only do short shops alone, but I have gotten a little better.
I find what works best for me is.....breathing. (Breathe in for a count of 4, hold for 4, and let it out for a count of 4. In about 5 min you will feel so much better.)
If that doesn't help I go to klonopin. It relaxes me and helps me get through the worst situations. (Sometimes I cheat and take on even before I get to the store.)
I also suggest seeing a doctor or therapist too. Just so you can find out what's up.

I have not had a panic attack in months now, thanks to my Zoloft. But yes i did have some that would come out of the blue.
