I have symptoms of OCD. How do I deal about obsessive thoughts about fictional characters? The truth is, I know they are fictional characters, so they have no bearing on my life. I can change the channel, turn the tv off, or put the book down. However, the thoughts are still there and they can drive a person nuts. It hasn't gotten to that point now and I don't want that. It is bothersome because they are fictional characters.

Hehe, i have had the same problem as far back as I can remember, but it doesn't bother me. (Infact, I kind of like it)

But...I can't really give advice on turning off obsessive thoughts when I can't even turn off my own.
So...sorry I'm not of much help.

well I can't really be much help for you on how to deal with the thoughts because I still have probs with mine, but I can tell you that you are not alone having obsessive and intrusive thoughts from fictional characters because that's kinda what I have, however the characters that bother me are the ones from scary movies or the gory parts of the movies replay in my head. I do not allow myself to watch such movies or tv shows that have violence because I can't handle them.
