Hi there - I'm new too (as of yesterday) and I have absolutely no idea of how to use this system .....but I've joined in desperation....
I have been struggling with Bipolar for years and only just had a formal diagnosis 18 mths ago. I'm currently under treatment but have hit absolute rock bottom and was suicidal last week ........I'm trying so hard to overcome this black period but it seems so overwhelming...

Helley....I am so sorry to hear about your new diagnosis... It can be challenging wrapping your head around it, it was for me. It took me years actually to finally believe what they were telling me, I thought that perhaps it was not the truth or perhaps I just didn't want to believe it!

Please keep posting and contact us when you are feeling low. It can be overwhelming but having faith that things will get better is what you have to do right now.... It is a cycle, and it does go up.... Sometimes we have to take it one moment at a time....in those moments we have to ask for help from those who are closest to us... Don't be afraid to ask for help! We are always here!

TJ

HI Sky and welcome to Pc. Nice post you made offering your help to talk, share and vent.

I've also been dx'd with severe anxiety, depression, ptsd and bipolar 2. It all hit me three years ago and didnt get dx'd till, oh maybe a little over a year ago. I'm still learning the ropes and fighting the ropes alot. But hopefully one day i'll just accept it and let it go so i can work on really getting better.

I'm here to if you ever need to talk. My pm is always open.

Hi Helley,
I was diagnosed w/bipolar disorder in 2000&with PTSD&schizo-affective disorder just this year. I've never been able to get regular treatment because I had no insurance&no money. I can now because I'm on disability which includes health insurance via Medicare. I totally understand the devastatio when getting a new diagnosis even when I suspected that the diagnosis was the problem, or at least part of it. I'd suggest reading a book by Elizabeth Kubler Ross called On Death&Dying because it talks about the 7 stages of grief. Whenever you're diagnosed with a mental illness you need to go through these stages before you can get to acceptance&really help yourself get better. I understand the difficulty w/navigating the website-it becomes clearer the more you use it. PS Suicidal thoughts are something we all have to deal w/from time to time when we've been diagnosed w/mental illness. Your not the only one&I still have problems w/that on an almost daily basis.-Skymonk

Hi skeeweeaka (or should I call you TJ - not sure of the protocal??)
Thank you for your reply.......it's so nice having someone to talk to. Today seems to be slightly better than yesterday .....although I still don't feel good - I do wonder at times why the hell we are all going through this....What is the purpose? And more importantly what is the point? Sometimes I wish I was ignorant of this and just carry on like I used to.

I think you hit the nail on the head when you said I'm grieving....I never thought of that before....I'm grieving for the "Party Girl" I once was - the one who never gave a ***** about what I did - --no matter how foolish, never cared how much I drank and partied ....I was always the one who HAD to come as the party just didn't happen unless I was there....now people are saying I'm different and not as much fun to be with! You can't win!
PS - I'll see if I can get that book too - thanks for the heads up on it

I just unsubscribed myself from the local "support" groups website. If you have a real problem that you need to discuss you get nasty e-mails that criticize, judge&are definetly not supportive. Beware!
