Does anybody here have social isolation? Im doing something for my parents, im schizophrenic. And I need to know alittle bit about the behaviors and the personalities of people. I Have a rejection issue. Im afraid of rejection. So I reject the person before they can reject me. So thats why I stay home. And Isolate myself and stay in bed till 12pm or 1pm in the day. and not leave the house till 8pm. And not hang out with anyone all day. And then not see anyone for a few days. But anyways. If anyone can give me some info on it id much apreciate it.

Hi Justalittle,
I can't fully relate to the social isolation you are talking about. But maybe you should post in one of the other subforums about this? Like for example, Anxiety, Panic and Phobias , Schizophrenia and Psychosis and maybe Personality Place . You are more likely to find people with the same issues in subforums like that. Take care! Justalittle, I'm the same way. I'm bipolar with various other mental issues, and I've spent the majority of my life pushing the good people away and welcoming the bad (self-sabotage due to trauma), then I do what I can to ruin the relationship.
I isolate myself completely from my family, I only talk/see them when I'm getting food. I stay up till 6am in the morning, and wake up between 3 and 5 pm. I rarely leave the house, I never see my friends, and it can be days without me talking to anyone. I haven't always been this isolated, it's only been this bad for the past two years. Check out this thread as well: http://forums.psychcentral.com/showthread.php?t=82234 Feel free to PM me if you wanna talk about it btw. |

HI, Just, and all you sweeties here in this thread!
I do isolate myself. I have a job of teaching which is demanding and to which I go each day, giving and interracting with my students and coworkers, but look forward to coming home and isolating myself. I do this on the weekends also, not even going out to the grocery store if I can help it. I've been wondering about this lately. I do have to work and support myself, which I manage to do successfully, but other than that, I prefer to be alone. I look at other people I know, who go to dinners, symphony, movies together, and, though I have been invited, I always simply come home and stay by myself. I actually like it....or am I kidding myself? Should I be "out there?" One thing I know is that I have been so terribly hurt in the past, taking such a long time to recover, that now I feel safe just staying in my shell. Can any of you identify? Patty OH, by the way, I hope this doesn't sound like whining! I'm so content these days, despite isolating myself! Last edited by seeker1950; Nov 18, 2008 at 05:11 PM. |

Justalittle, what counts is what issues that you have and what you are doing to understand yourself and what you are doing to overcome this issue...........
