I was on Paxil for 7 years and recently went off of it because the Doctor said that it loses its effect after so long.

It saved my life. My husband noticed the difference right away. It calmed me down a lot! I am a very anxious person.
Thanks for this!

paxil is a GODSEND!!!! I was on it off and on the last 7 years. I just recently got back on it and wow. what a difference.

there are (for me anyway) no side effects that are troublesome.

Let us know how you are feeling.

Colleen

I took paxil for 9 years. I started at 10mgs when I was 11, went up to 15mg when I was 13, and then up to 20mg when I was 14, and stayed at that dose the rest of the time. The only side effects I noticed was that I had trouble sleeping, but all in all it was a really great medicine. It stopped working when I was 19 because I'd been taking it so long, so I went off it, but if it hadn't, I still be taking it. It WORKS.

In my case Paxil made me worse. First it made me more depressed than usual for a few weeks. Then I felt manic for a few weeks and it made my anxiety worse. I nearly lost my job for not showing up for work. I also lost a job offer because of my strange behavior. I became to afraid to answer telephones. I also developed a weird obsession with starving myself. I tend to have negative ruminative thoughts and the Paxil made it worse.

I'm not trying to scare you. Just telling you my personal experiences. However, everyone is different so Paxil might be great for you like some of the other members who have posted replies here. It was TERRIBLE for me though.
