What exactly is considered anxiety?? I know for a fact I have social anxiety and probably GAD as well.
But what about other things?(i have yet to talk to T about these) I have a huge fear of confrontations, people in positions of authority (even my t), I have a fear of making mistakes, fear of people leaving me, fear of trusting people, being vulnerable, fear of rejection etc etc etc...would all those be considered anxiety?????? My T is helping me to lessen my anxiety, but will the techniques help me with those too??? |

All of those things could be part of social anxiety. It is also possible, especially if they are part of a long-term pattern, that you could have a personality disorder. There is a lot of overlap between social anxiety and avoidant personality disorder, for instance. Ultimately it doesn't really matter which disorder it is, as long as your T is addressing the things that are problems for you, and the treatment is not essentially different. Therapists respond to what you bring to the session.

I had the fear of confrontations, trusting people and being vulnerable. I worked on all of these things. Working on these sorts of things is what will really get rid of your anxiety. Of course you formed these fears in response to your experiences. Most likely these experiences are only in your past now but their effects are still with you. Tracing them back to the source will help you extinguish them. After I worked through the sources and my feelings about my issues, the last thing that I did was stop my reactions due to habit. Being very conscious of yourself and your reactions on a day to day basis will help you to stop the habit responses. You have to do all the other work first though.
