Harmless compulsions? I can't sleep unless the closet door is closed. Hubby finds it amusing. Even if it is just a 1/4 inch open, I have to get out of bed and close it.... and no, Monsters Inc. had nothing to do with it. speaking of harmless compulsions.. got one?

Hi! I have OCD as one of my diagnosis' and have several things or compulsions I do that bother me at times when I catch myself doing them and they are just speaking of harmless compulsions.. got one? cause they make no sense.

--When I get home from going anwhere in the car, I take out the keys and not only checking for the keys when I lock the car doors, or when shutting the car trunk, I can't stop especially when shutting the trunk, looking to make sure I have my keys (normal?) Then before shutting the trunk or locked door, I look at my watch. It drives me over the edge at times. Thinking about the fact without even thinking as I am shutting the locked car door or trunk, I go and look at my wristwatch speaking of harmless compulsions.. got one?

--When I get up from a seat in anothers car or a seat away from home, I find myself standing things in hand and haveing to stop and look at the seat I was sitting in. At times I think I look at the empty seat for possible forgotton objects, only other times I find myself almost staring at the seat to make sure I am not still in it.

--"WRITING"--in general, I find myself with the urge to write down at times everything I possibly can. It began as 'Journaling' it has turned into a clipboard and paper actually 2 clipboards one letter sized another steno pad sized which Always have to have one or the other in a black canvas bag I can not leave the house without.
--I never really thought of it as being a compulsion until it got to the point of actually haveing to pull the car off the road or highway in order to write something down or pages of thoughts or things I "COULD NOT WAIT" to write up until I reached my destination.

--"SKIN SURFING"--that is what I guess I call it. I find if I do not keep my (both) hands busy they begin to 'Surf' my body for any signs of blemish and/or in grown hair or pimple. Seems once I "ZONE IN" to one I find for hours myself picking at my skin. It is not really dangerous only when for me I get to the point I am not able to stop myself from doing this and over and over conciousally tell my hands to stop picking and 'surfing' my skin it get upsetting.

--"INTERNET BELIEFS"--I find myself clicking on say "Main Index" I click on it (have dial up) then I have thoughts go through my mind of "should I leave the little spinning black and white ball ON the chosen thing or should I move it over as In my mind I think I should move it off of there becase it makes the computer not work right if I leave the ball on top of the letters.

Sorry, I guess I got carried away there just some of the things as of now I can think of which happened either at present or today.

Chris speaking of harmless compulsions.. got one?

I have to sleep with a light on and the door closed because someone or something might try to sneak in my bedroom while I'm asleep. I also tap the heel of my right foot on the floor each night before going to bed and my shoes must be placed with the arches facing each other or something bad might happen. I also suffer from scruptulosity (fear of punishment for sexual sins, unpure thoughts, etc) but that's a whole other show...lol

I don't have OCD, but I'm soooo paranoid that my throat will be clogged up when I talk (yanno, when you have colds and all of that nasty stuff is clogging your throat...except I don't have a cold), so I contantly make this squeaky noise to make sure my throat isn't clogged and that I'll be ably to speak clearly.

Weird, eh?
