I just came back from the annual meeting of the American Psychiatric Association (APA) in Atlanta where I attended many meetings on Adult ADHD. I took two official courses offered by the APA with Dr. Keith Brown who authored one of the ADHD checklists in common usage. I also went to several symposiums with the world experts presenting information.
I was quite surprized to see how much there was on Adult ADHD. One of the free dinners on ADHD was very well attended (1000's?) and it was great to see how much attention the subject is getting. For me personally it confirmed the way I have been treating ADHD (using doses much higher than officially sanctioned by the FDA). My drug rep for Strattera told me today that Strattera will soon be manufactured in 80 and 100mg capsules as it is common to prescribe it in doses of 120mg a day. I personally take 160mg a day and I have been feeling the best I ever have in my life. The area of ADHD and neuroscience in particular is a very hot area of research. Neuroimaging is increasingly yielding helpful results for research although it still can't be used for diagnosis of individual patients (contrary to Daniel Amen's claims). Focalin is about to come out in an extended release formulation. I don't use it much, but I would love to see another drug with an Adult ADHD indication. This is all I can think of now that is really new. I got some very good references on ADHD too.
