I have been diagnosed with adhd. i feel more add than anything not really hyperactive natrually but im really struggling on whats the best medication to take. Here is what i have taken. Straterra: this did nothing for me it put me on edge and made me feel naucious. DextroAmphetamine:This drug relaxes me. I dont feel anything unless i take like 65mg and then it just makes me feel normal. I have dried adderrall and 60 mg again just makes me feel normal, what i mean by normal is that i am my regualr self the self who cant concentrate, cant focus, cant do a lot of things. I just want to treat myselft the best way possible so if anyone has any input on medicines that they have tried for adhd or add. Please, please post here. I go to see the doctor again in a week. I dont know what do. help

have you tried the extended release flavor of adderall? I found that one to work really well.
currently i'm on dexedrine sp 45 mg, and i don't like it. doesn't wake me up like the adderall did. does help me concentrate though. but how can one concentrate when one is tired all the time.....ugh. you might just need a higher dosage of adderall. my husband takes 90 mg/day. I usually do best around the 60 mg range of adderall, but it wears off waaaaaay too fast. |

I take Wellbutrin and Vyvanse. These work very well for me. Wellbutrin on its own was not enough, but the added Vyvanse helped a lot. I take 20-30 mg of the Vyvanse. I actually do better on 30, but I am often only taking 20. I am always worried I will get dependent since it is a stimulant, so I try to take less of it than I really should for the best results. I have not heard of anyone getting addicted to Vyvanse, but I'm just paranoid....
For the stimulant meds, there are a number that are in the amphetamine family, like Adderall and Vyvanse, and then others in the Methylphenidate family, like Ritalin, Concerta, and Focalin. It sounds like you have tried some in the first group with not much success. As someone suggested, maybe you need a higher dose. Since you haven't tried anything from the second group, trying something from the Methylphenidate family is a possibility too. Hopefully, your pdoc will have some good ideas. Good luck.
