I ve not been dx as having add or adhd. But I have noticed in the past as well as now that I am really bad at organizing tasks and staying focused. Example: I was watching t.v. last night with my husband and he turned and said wow that was crazy I didnt know what he was talking about because my focus went from the story line to the little dot at the end of the t.v. stations logo. Another example, I was asked to teach the kids at boy scouts the Cherokee langauge. So I get excited because I get to teach these kids about my culture well the day comes and I am not prepared found out last minute my printer is out of ink so I can't print pages for them. And while I am talking to them my attention is constantly torn away from them to talking to another parent It was embarrasing. I constantly lose things only to find them in an open spot right where I left it and while the object is there in that wide open spot, I am looking through drawers, jewelry boxes, etc. It's nerve racking that during a conversation with someone my I don't remeber a thing they said because if a fly lands on the wall beside them, it takes my attention away from the person and onto what the fly is doing. I want to talk to my doctor about it but I don't know how they would diagnose add/adhd and I don't want to tell them my symptoms and they just say "oh yep it's add alright take this pill" which is usually what my doctor does.

I have the problem where I don't see what's right in front of me.
I'm too busy looking around.

I do that with boring tasks as well. My mind wanders and I'm everywhere but there.

I mind also wanders while watching TV. My bf will say "did you see that?" and I'll be
looking right at the TV yet my mind is somewhere else.
I just say, no I wasn't paying attention and he'll have to rewind the DVR.
Thanks for this!

You seen to have the same problems I had. I went on line and took a test for ADD. I think you will find that you are ADD. It's okay, it's not your fault. ADD is inherited. There is something you can do. Take the test, then read 10 Simple Solutions to Adult ADD by, Stephanie Moulton Sarkis, PH.D.

I would then go to your doctor and have him prescribe Adderall the generic brand. Make sure that your insurance plan will cover the costs. Mine does, and if your's doesn't, go online and see if there is someway to get help with the costs. I have had no side effects with this drug. Not all drugs work for all people. For me, Adderall gave me much more focus, which in turn helped me in other areas of my life. I just can't believe the difference in my life.

This is only the beginning. There is a lot of work to do. You must become the expert, not your doctor. When you do go to your doctor, you will be able to tell him what you have done, and you need a prescription.

I hope this has helped.
