Thanks, Caramel |

First I have ever heard of wellbutrin being prescribed for ADHD. But it is hard to say what your doctor was thinking. It may work, definitely keep us updated on your progression on it. I am very interested in knowing if it works or not.

Thanks for your response. I was diagnosed at the Amen Clinic in Newport Beach, California. This is my psychiatric diagnoses: Generalized Anxiety Disorder, ADHD Inattentive Type, and Major Depressive Disorder. I am dealing with more than ADHD. I will post on my progress.

Wellbutrin is frequently prescribed off label for ADHD. It was the first drug that my PNP tried me on for ADHD symptoms. I definitely noticed an improvement but my PNP thought we could do better at controlling symptoms, so after a while, she added Vyvanse to that, and later cut the Wellbutrin dose in half. So on this combo, I am doing quite well.
Caramel, Wellbutrin can increase anxiety so beware, since you have GAD. As my PNP said, there is no one med that is going to be perfect so sometimes it is worth it to take a med like Wellbutrin that helps with one issue (ADHD) but may exacerbate another (anxiety). It doesn't have this effect on everyone, though. Good luck.

I am taking Luvox for depression symptoms (deep limbic system/thalamus, cingulate gyrus), Neurontin for the anxiety; have been off clonazepam for 32 days (basal ganglia), and I started a low dose of generic Wellbutrin, bupropion two days ago. I am taking half of a 75 milligram tablet in the morning. Bupropion should help my prefrontal cortex function more effectively.
Thank you for the information. I will be careful to watch for increased anxiety and increase the dosage slowly. I may have started taking bupropion too quickly before the anxiety had a chance to calm down. Caramel |
