Today I went to my counselor. It's only the second time I have been. I started going because of anxiety. Today, as we were talking she said she thinks I may have ADD. So I filled out a question thing and I had almost all of the symptoms. She also believes a lot of my anxiety is connected with it and suggested I ask my doctor about ADD medication.
Can ADD and anxiety be connected like that?

Anxiety is a very common secondary symptom for those with ADD.
Thanks for this!

I have ADD and have never taken medications. I think that is such a rash first attempt in dealing with ADD. I think finding out as much information as possible is key before starting medications. Doctors are so quick to get meds in someone. However, I will say that I don't have anxiety.

I've been researching as much as I can about it and talking to my counselor, who also suggests medication. I'm just worried, because I am going to have more professors who like to lecture next semester...

A counselor isn't trained in medication so I think it is a leap for her to suggest that, especially on only your second visit. I think a good first step would be for you to go to a practitioner who is experienced at diagnosing and treating ADHD. See if they think you have ADHD, and if so, what treatments they recommend.

Good luck.
