My whole life I have been told by teachersand everything that I have ADD. I was always in trouble, failing stuff, talked to much, made noise and never could sit still. I even always had reading comprehension problems. My teacherseven tried to tell my mom but I have a mother that doesnt believe in it. Now im in college and still having almost all the same problems. Ive Always been the kid that thinks there listening but is tapping there pencil staring out the window or moving my feet around which makes people around you mad. It takes me forever to read something i even have to read the questions close before i tAke it in. Im a good reader its just like my mind doesnt know what it just read. I dont know how to explain it. I want to be a teacher so bad but Im still having problems at school now Im on academic probation. I still am close to one of my teachers I had all threw high school and she still tells me she thinks I have that. Im very impulsive and always full of energy Ive even had a run in wihh the law. Does this sound consistent to ADD to you?? Im at my witts end and really wanna suceed And dont know what to do..

As a child you were just like I'm now. And I'm not sure what do I have its complicated..
But I think u have ADD try some more test's and don't give up if u really wanna
succeed u have to give all your best no matter how hard it is. U said your mother
didn't believed it..Well my mom doesn't even now that I may have ADHD and even more.
Just do your best and you'll see the results

This sounds somewhat like my history. My parents did not believe in it either all though my childhood. When teachers would suggest that I should get tested, they still would not listen. I was in college when a Dr. finally suggested that I really should get tested. I went through the processes of testing and came out that I had most defiantly ADD. I sat down with my parents and explained the disorder. They were of course skeptical, but once I found medication that worked and learn other ideas to help with this disorder... they saw a huge difference in my behavior. They were very pleased and now my parents are now believers. My suggestion for you would to go get tested because no one can truly say you have it but a licensed Doctor. If you are diagnosed with ADD, hopefully your mom will see the difference in your behavior and will become a believer. Best of luck!!

Find a psychiatrist or psychologist or other mental health professional that is skilled and experienced in ADHD assessment, in adults if possible, and go through the assessment.

We cannot diagnose you here, against forum rules, but it sounds like ADHD to me. I would go to a psychiatrist or talk with your family doctor about your concerns. Or your school counselor maybe have diagnostic testing they can do. I would start there first.

I think you should get tested to know for sure if you have ADHD. Then, you can move forward from there. I found out two months ago that I have it and I am trying to learn more so that I can know how to manage it to be successful in different areas of my life. I know how you feel, but I think that you have made the first step by reaching out to others.
